Misty Nicole Knight packaged the surprise in a birthday gift and a clearly overcome Ryan Farrell breaks down in tears when he realises what’s really in the box.
The overwhelming surprise has been viewed more than 28 million times on Facebook.
Before he even opens the present, Ryan says: “You’re going to make me cry”.
Thoughtful Misty penned Ryan a note, which read: “I just want you to know that you are the most amazing man I’ve ever met.
“You’ve raised me my whole life, from putting my hair in tight Princess Leia buns, forging my signature in fifth grade, jamming out to alternative music, going on Warped tour and even our first rock concert together, leading up to us laughing at cats wearing leggings.
“I know we are so weird together, but that’s what makes you you, and I can’t imagine not having you in my life. I’m so grateful to call you dad.”
Beaming Ryan looked into the box and pulled out a Batman vs. Superman onesie and some sweet treats before reaching the main surprise.
As Ryan spots some adoption papers, he immediately grabs Misty into a hug and bursts into tears.
The family applaud and cheer as he exclaims: “God, I’ve been wanting to do that forever.”
Misty uploaded the heartwarming footage to Facebook with the caption: “So everyone has been waiting for this but I finally asked the man that raised me to adopt me.
“Love you with all my heart and can’t wait to be a FARREL.”
