Another excuse to get glammed up for the red carpet – the 69th Annual Tony Awards are locked and loaded!

Hollywood’s A-list was out in full force in Los Angeles for the Tony’s with Fun Home and The Curious Incident of The Dog In The Night-Time each pocketing five awards, while Helen Mirren won her very first Tony for The Audience.  Mirren’s award was also the first time an actor has won both a Tony and an Oscar for playing the same character (Queen Elizabeth II). An American in Paris also cleaned up, taking home four Tony’s including one for best choreography.

Hosted by Kristen Chenoweth and Alan Cumming – who had a cheeky report that took the edge off some of the standard Tony-cheese – this year’s Awards were a spectacular display of gowns and tuxedos on the red carpet with the girls and the guys striking a stunning display of Hollywood glamour.

Stealing the spotlight on the night, however was 11 year old Sydney Lucas who was one of three actresses who play cartoonist Alison Bechdel at varying ages in the musical, Fun Home. Sydney sang Ring of Keys which is a stirring reverie of lesbian self-discovery of a young girl. Interestingly, the top two performing musicals both touched on angsty teens, with the stunning The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time winning Best Play also starring a teen navigating puberty.
