With Australian Fashion Week (AFW) officially gearing up for its spectacular new chapter at the Museum of Contemporary Art this May, the countdown to Sydney’s biggest style event is on. Right now, I am soaking up the effortlessly chic, modern-gaucho inspired street style here in Buenos Aires on my South American Grand Tour, but my mind is already turning to the incredible fashion moments about to unfold back home.
While Fashion Week is driven by the runway, we all know that so much of the most creative, rule-breaking styling actually happens on the pavement outside the shows.
To celebrate the upcoming 2026 season, we are diving into The Carousel archives to revisit one of our absolute favourite street style round-ups from a decade ago — back in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) era. We snapped the very best celebrity VIP guest outfits, along with media, bloggers, and industry insiders putting their own unique spin on the season’s designs. It is a brilliant reminder of how Australian style has evolved, and how some looks remain completely timeless.
