9 Top Co-Working Tips For Pets To Help At Home During Isolation

Preventative health up for the pampered pooch

More time at home means that we get to spend more time with our owners. While they may be busy with work, taking care of the kids, or concentrating on a tense and nail-biting season finale on Netflix, this is precious time that we have and we need to make the best of it. We, as pets, mustn’t be a nuisance, on the contrary, we must do everything we can to help our owners to make isolation easier and more enjoyable.

Here are nine tips to make us better co-workers.

#1 Make sure your colleague wakes up on time

You know what’s better than being woken up by an alarm? Literally anything. If our colleagues sleep through the alarm, a few kisses on the cheeks will do the trick to wake them up softly and with love. NO BITING.

#2 Always look presentable for the workplace

When our owner asks us to take a bath, under no circumstances will you argue with them. Staying clean and presentable in these times is key, and we must do all that we can do make life easier for our colleagues. Besides, you never know when we’ll make an appearance on a Zoom call. And for all the pet owners out there, the same goes for you. Take a shower and get dressed. You’ll feel more productive just being in work clothes, even if it is just the top half.

#3 Try to not distract your colleague

cat, pet

I know it’s tempting. They’re at their desk working and all you want to do is bite at their leg or jump up onto the desk and wander about. But we must restrain from doing so, and even if we do, to do so quietly and out of the way of our owner’s work or whatever they are doing. We are cute and cuddly pets, not nuisances.

#4 Keep your work area tidy

We all hate the vacuum cleaner. This is a fact. But, in these times, why not join in on the action. Let our owners clean their space, it’s important for them to have a clean and clear area for peace of mind and productivity’s sake. We should avoid making messes of our own. That toilet paper may look chewy, but avoid tearing it up into hundreds of little pieces, especially in this period of time; toilet paper is scarce!

#5 Take regular breaks

dog, pets

Although play-time is key, we also need to learn to take breaks. Have a nice lie down on the couch and doze off a bit if needed. This will also give our owners some alone time. It’s also a good idea for you to take a break from your work, yes, I’m talking to you pet owners.

#6 Look after the office plants

Can you reach it? It looks high, right? Let’s jump and try and touch it. STOP STOP STOP. Before you do that, let me assure you that you almost definitely can reach that plant on the edge of your owner’s desk. This goes back to keeping the work area tidy, because if you knock that plant down, it will, without doubt, create a mess! The puppy eyes get you out of this one! To avoid this, place your plants in an area that you know we can’t reach.

#7 Try to stay focused

focus, pets

This tip also applies to both. As pets, we have a responsibility to not wreak havoc in the house, and for pet owners, as much as we’re irresistible, try and focus on your task at hand. You can play with us later, you aren’t the only ones making a sacrifice here!

#8 Book in some snuggle time

Yes! This is the part of the day that we’ve been waiting for. All we want is your love and attention, and we can’t get enough of it. Plus it’s a win-win, we get the love we so crave, and you get it back while also letting loose a bit. We tend to have that effect on people.

#9 Smile

smiling, dogs

We must always stay positive. Try your best to smile (I know it’s hard, we aren’t meant to be able to) and wag your tail. The positivity will transfer itself to your owner and make the ambience that much nicer.

We’ll take care of you during isolation, all we ask for in return is that you do the same.

Love,

Pets.
