There’s so much more to Melbourne than its status as Australia’s sporting capital! In fact, AFL aside, the capital of Victoria is packed with world-class dining, hidden laneways, artsy neighbourhoods, and top-tier entertainment –  with a weekend away offering just enough time to scratch the surface of this vibrant city. To really make the most of your 48 hour Melbourne itinerary, swap last-minute battles for an Uber and time-taxing efforts to figure out public transport by making a booking with Silver Service. Whether you need a quick lift from the airport or are running late for dinner, their premium service means you’ll always arrive in comfort and class.

Day 1: Coffee, culture and cocktails

8:00 AM – Rise and Grind at Melbourne’s Coffee Capital

Start your day like a true Melburnian – with an exceptional coffee. Head to Pellegrini’s Espresso Bar for an old-school Italian vibe. Or, Patricia Coffee Brewers for one of the city’s best flat whites.

Jump into a Silver Service ride and head straight to Hosier Lane for a dose of Melbourne’s famous street art. From there, take a short stroll to Degraves Street, a bustling laneway lined with charming cafes and boutiques.

12:00 PM – Lunch with a View

For a long lunch with a view, book a table at Arbory Bar & Eatery on the Yarra River. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, hop in a cab to Vue de Monde, one of Melbourne’s most iconic fine-dining experiences.

2:00 PM – A Dose of Culture at NGV

No Melbourne trip is complete without a visit to the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). Whether you’re into classic European art or modern Australian masterpieces, there’s always something to marvel at.

5:00 PM – Golden Hour Drinks at a Rooftop Bar

Time for a sundowner at Mid Air on the 12th floor of Melbourne Place. Alongside a modern Med menu curated by Australian Young Chef of the Year, Nick Deligiannis, expect stunning views over the city with a cocktail in hand.

7:30 PM – Dinner at a Melbourne Institution
For dinner, Melbourne spoils you with choices. Go for Modern Australian at popular paddock-to-plate eatery Pure South Kitchen, include in spectacular award-winning sushi at Sake Restaurant & Bar, or keep it a classic with the Fusion Asian offerings at Chin Chin

9:30 PM – A Showstopping Evening

If you’re in town during a blockbuster performance, book tickets to the Regent Theatre or Her Majesty’s Theatre. And, because your ride should match the glam of your heels, arrange a transfer with Silver Service – which ensures a stress-free ride to and from the venue, so you can focus on the magic of the night.

Day 2: Brunch, beaches and bubbles

9:00 AM – Brunch Like a Local

If your 48 hour Melbourne Itinerary doesn’t include brunch, you’re doing it wrong! Head to Higher Ground for its stunning interior and decadent hotcakes. Or, Archie’s All Day in Fitzroy for a laid-back vibe and killer avo toast.

11:00 AM – Explore the Queen Victoria Market

No visit to Melbourne is complete without a wander through QVM. Pick up freshly-baked croissants and farm-fresh eggs and local cheeses. Or, for something sweet don’t miss a classic hot jam doughnut from the famous American Doughnut Kitchen truck.

1:00 PM – St Kilda by the Sea

Sydney’s Bondi likely believes it’s won bragging rights in the battle of the beaches. But, jump in a Silver Service and head to St Kilda for a breezy afternoon and decide for your self which sity does it best. Stroll along the pier, grab a scoop from Augustus Gelatery, or say hello to the penguins at dusk.

3:00 PM – Chapel Street Shopping Spree

Melbourne is a shopping mecca. The only thing you need to do is set the budget. Start at Chapel Street in South Yarra which is home to everything from designer boutiques to vintage treasures. Or head to the megal mall that is Chadstone. Alternatively, you’re bound to max out the credit card at Emporium Melbourne – which has a mix of 200 high-end and high-street stores.

6:00 PM – Final Feast at a Foodie Favourite

For your last hurrah, make it special at Attica, one of Australia’s best restaurants. Follow it with cocktails at Eau De Vie. Intimate, cosy and discreetly nestled in Malthouse Lane, the bar considered by many as one of the best in Melbourne gives serious speakeasy vibes, inspired by America’s 1920s prohibition era. And, invites you to indulge while you plan your return visit!
