Tiny Away Is The Perfect Local Getaway

Founded in 2018, the Tiny Away network includes a range of comfy eco-friendly ‘tiny houses’ for travellers seeking alternative and unique accommodation experiences. Having already grown to over 75 private locations across New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia & Queensland, Tiny Away offers adventurous road-trippers and weekenders the chance to immerse themselves in Australia’s vast flora and fauna, without compromising on comfort. A step up from glamping, each tiny house offers hot showers, air conditioning, a cosy queen bed, and a kitchenette.

Tiny houses offered by Tiny Away are built in Australia and designed in Singapore by sister company, Big Tiny – the first company in Singapore to combine the concept of ‘tiny houses’ with eco-tourism. Big Tiny’s ethos is centred on reducing resource consumption and environmental impact without sacrificing the quality of accommodation.

Boasting a range of stunning designs and state-of-the-art features both inside and outside, these impressively self-sufficient “compact homes on wheels” are in their element in some of Australia’s most spectacular rural settings. Each tiny home is made with sustainable materials and constructed in Australia by experienced builders, plumbers, and electricians. The key eco- friendly features include waterless compost toilets, rainwater collections tanks for showers, and solar panels.

Unlike other tiny house offerings, Tiny Away guests can expect to wake up and go to bed in style before having the chance to engage in a variety of exciting activities offered by landowner hosts, from farm tours and horse riding to bushwalking and quad biking. Whatever is on offer, activities promise to put guests a million miles from their hectic city life. For those looking for a more relaxed and indulgent time away, wellness experiences such as massages and chakra dancing are also available at some Tiny Away locations.

Why the Tiny Away model is different

Tiny Away’s rapid growth in recent years has been credited to its unique business model which has earned the company a reputation as a budding social enterprise. With many landowners across Australia’s rural and regional areas limited to seasonal work or feeling the consequences of natural disasters like bushfires and drought, Tiny Away offers them an opportunity to generate an additional income stream by putting their land to an alternative use.

Using a profit-sharing arrangement which sees landowners earning up to 45% of rental revenue, Tiny Away considers itself a partner with landowner hosts on a mission to create rare and exceptional accommodation experiences. With each tiny house provided to hosts at no cost, Tiny Away helps them to unlock the full potential of their land by identifying the perfect location as well as the type of activities that guests can enjoy during their stay.
