There was a time when “body oil for Summer” meant something else entirely. Think coconut-scented slicks, questionable SPF (if any) and afternoons spent turning the colour of overcooked prawns. Thankfully, we’ve evolved. Today’s iteration is smarter, safer – and, in Bangn Body’s case, actually good for your skin.
After quietly launching earlier this year – and originally intended as a complementary product to the brand’s Firming Lotion – the Bangn Body Firming Oil has since racked up an 80,000-strong waitlist and sells, on average, once every minute. Now, for Summer, there’s a new version – the same formula, this time with an understated Champagne shimmer.
And, unlike the tanning oils of the years past, this isn’t about frying for glow. It’s about treating the skin like you would your face. Oils are making a comeback, but not in the nostalgic coconut-scented, low-SPF way they dominated the ’80s. Today’s iteration is more deliberate – treatment-led, hydrating, and designed to enhance rather than coat the skin. This version is radiant, not reflective.
Formulated for both face and body, the oil combines pineapple fruit extract to help smooth and brighten uneven texture with plant-based actives and vitamins A, D, E and K to support skin integrity and firmness. Green coffee seed oil is included to help enhance circulation and encourage collagen production. It’s functional before it’s decorative – but the decorative now feels worth noting.
The shimmer edition adds 100% natural, biodegradable mica for a subtle pearlescent finish. Less beach club glitter, more skin that looks convincingly well-rested. It absorbs quickly, with minimal transfer, designed to leave skin soft, not slippery.
Founder Priscilla Hajiantoni says the decision to create a shimmer version stemmed from repeated customer requests from those already using it religiously.
Body oil is having a moment again, but it’s no longer a teenage rite of passage involving a yard chair and reckless optimism. This is the grown-up version: hydrating, antioxidant-rich and designed to work under SPF, not instead of it.
Released in a single shipment ahead of Summer, it’s officially a limited edition. Unofficially, if history repeats itself, we may see it stick around.

A Summer oil worth reaching for. This time, you won’t need aloe vera afterwards.
