The Ultimate Fitspo: Bianca Cheah

We recently had a chat with Bianca Cheah, founder of Sporteluxe, gorgeous yogi and now Sukin’s first beauty ambassador and spoke about her sunny lifestyle.

In the morning…

I start the day with a Chia Pod. I love chia seeds – they’re high in omega 3’s which make the skin glow. It also has good fibre content, too which is great for detoxifying the body getting rid of products that your body doesn’t need.

My view on food…

Play With Purpose: How One Woman Transformed Childhood Absence Into a Legacy of Inclusion

It is all about clean foods for me. I don’t deprive myself of anything; I like to eat everything in moderation. I drink a lot of water, but I don’t drink soft drinks or eat fast food. I eat lean proteins, clean foods, fruit and vegetables, lots of water. I snack during the day on nuts, almonds, and seaweed biscuits.

How I learned all about the healthy lifestyle…

My father is a martial artist with Taekwondo Australia and my mother has had restaurants all her life, and used to be a model as well. My father is so healthy and my mum knows all about clean eating and healthy foods… it just fused and I grew up with that, I suppose I don’t know anything else but eating like that.

However, my vice is…

Caramello Koala, the giant ones! I don’t treat myself all the time, but if I feel like it I will have it. I don’t ever deprive myself, I think that if you deprive yourself of any foods you will end up bingeing which isn’t good. It is always about balance.

Staying fit…

I am a yoga teacher, so I do lots of yoga, and I usually do my own practice at home. I do it in the morning or in the afternoon whether it is just 30 minutes or an hour. I like toning yoga, which combines cardio and weightlifting.  I don’t focus on the flexibility side of it.

There is also a form of yoga, which I call my cardio called HIT workout. It’s a way of vinyasa flow, lots of repetition and then resting for 2 minutes and then starting all over again. Jumping between high heart rate and low heart rate. This encourages fat burning, increases your metabolism, jumping between high and low metabolism.

My flexibility…

I used to do gymnastics and have been flexible all my life. I think once you are flexible you don’t really lose that. My gymnastics teacher and parents always said I was like a rubber band, like I’m double jointed and I can turn myself inside out. Practicing yoga allowed me to find my flexibility again. I am grateful that I have always had flexibility and will have that my entire life.

For anyone looking to add yoga into their lifestyle…

Make it a part of your routine, plan it a week out. If you don’t set a routine and plan then you will put it off when you get home, say you will do it tomorrow or the next day. I always say have a really nice mat that is set up all the time so you can just walk straight over to it. Make it a nice warm room. Make sure it is quiet and nothing else can bother you. Turn off your phones and the TV. Just be in the moment and enjoy the yoga.

Being fit and healthy is so important to me…

What you fill your body with is what you put out there. If you have a healthy inside then you will be happy, you will have a smile on your face, you are always going to be glowing, you will be more productive and you wont have any health problems.

On my glowing skin…

I drink lots of water, eat clean foods, do yoga, and sleep. Sleep is a big part of my life; I always try to get 8 hours of sleep. During the day your skin is trying to protect itself from the external factors like the sun and wind which can attack your skin. During the night your skin is repairing itself so the more you relax during that deep sleep the more your muscles and skin will repair itself.

Every night I do a shiatsu massage with rosehip oil. I don’t use it during the day because it’s too oily for your skin, but at night it’s great. It is so good for circulation, using the pressure points in your face as well.

Being Sukin’s first ambassador…
There are so many synergies aligned with us. They are natural products, biodegradable, eco-friendly, and the packaging is recyclable. They are so interested in having a sustainable future. The products aren’t tested on animals and they don’t contain any sodium lauryl sulphate. My mum brought me up using products that don’t contain sodium lauryl sulphate. It was a perfect alignment.
