The 33rd annual Balmoral Swim will kick off on Sunday 24th March, with hundreds of
swimmers diving into the ocean in support of childhood cancer research. The annual event,
which is a favourite in the North Shore community is a completely volunteer-run swimming
festival set at beautiful Balmoral Beach, Mosman.

The Balmoral Swim brings together swimmers of all ages, including solo swimmers, group
swimmers, first-time ocean swimmers and seasoned veterans – and will again proudly
support Children’s Cancer Institute. This year, the event hopes to raise $200,000 to support
childhood cancer research.

For the second year in a row and with thanks to Mosman Council, participants will have
access to a wheelchair access ramp. The Balmoral Beach Club will also supply
a beach wheelchair to ensure more convenient access for swimmers with disabilities.

The 2024 Balmoral Swim schedule will be hosting four events kicking off across the
morning:

  • 8:30 am – School Relay
  • 9:40 am – Balmoral Teams Challenge Relay
  • 10:00 am – Junior 200m Swim
  • 10:15 am – Around the Bay 1km Swim

The Balmoral Swim has been running for 33 years with 18 of those dedicated to supporting
Children’s Cancer Institute. All funds raised from the Balmoral Swim go towards the
Institute’s vital research into finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Children’s Cancer Institute’s Executive Director, Professor Michelle Haber AM, is proud of
the long-standing relationship with the Balmoral Swim and is excited for the upcoming
events.

“Three children die from cancer every week in Australia while 1,000 children and
adolescents are diagnosed with cancer every year. Children’s Cancer Institute exists to put
an end to those diagnoses and deaths. We won’t stop until this number is zero”, Professor
Haber said.

“All of the funds raised by participants of the Balmoral Swim get us one step closer to finding
a cure. It’s not if. It’s when.”

The Balmoral Swim is made possible thanks to the generosity of our sponsors Atlas, Dexus,
Woolworths Metro, Bingo Industries, Edney Ryan Group, ExpediteIT, Kieser, MTA Energy,
along with supporters the Balmoral Beach Club, Mosman Council, HMAS Penguin, D&M
Design Marketing, and Marine Rescue NSW.
