The Ghan, a tourist train that travels between the cities of Adelaide, Alice Springs, and Darwin, has been transformed into a beautiful moving art exhibition showcasing Aboriginal artist, Chantelle Mulladad‘s work ‘Crossroads’.

The renowned Ghan passenger train has been active for nearly 100 years. For decades it’s been providing passengers with the incredible experience of travelling right through the culturally rich heart of Australia. Offering more than just transit between Adelaide and Darwin, the train offers exquisite dining experiences, private cabins and an unforgettable outside adventure at each stop.

Tourism Northern Territory, NT Major Events Company (NTMEC), Journey Beyond, AGB Events, and of course Chantelle Mulladad, have put together a moving art installation on the train’s exterior with an interior lights show for Parrtjima – A Festival in Light. The festival will run from April 9 – April 18 and will give passengers a new taste of the oldest culture in the world.

Chantelle Mulladad’s Crossroads uses an expert combination of colours, patterns, culture and identity to tell the story of travelling across country on a journey – which is very much what The Ghan encapsulates in their journeys.

Beginning its adventure at Ltyentye Apurte (Santa Teresa), a remote indigenous community 80km south-east of Alice Springs, the beautifully wrapped exterior will be revealed as the “Red Centre’s vibrant colours as the backdrop creates a stunning visual as The Ghan travels through the Territory to Alice Springs (…),” explains Executive General Manager at Tourism NT, Tony Quarmby.
