The 'Bloody' Great New Sanitary Ad

Body form ad - Strong women

This new empowering, kick-ass, strong all-female advert for the British feminine hygiene brand Bodyform is being praised all over social media for not using the stereotypical ‘blue liquid’ to demonstrate the effectiveness of their menstrual products.

It’s so epic, it’s even got a woman dressed in armour riding a horse!

Bodyform Advert – Strong epic women

The advert displays women in various different sporting activities such as mountain biking, boxing, ballet, skateboarding, surfing, mountain-climbing and running. They all push themselves to the limit to the point where they make themselves bleed. Does this stop them? No.

They power through, which is where the slogan ‘no blood should hold us back’ kicks in.

Emphasising the point that each month during a female’s menstrual cycle they do not stop, they do not quit their daily lives, they carry on as normal. This strong depiction of women shouts out that they can push themselves to their limits in physical activities and a bit of blood won’t stop them!

Of course, some women experience painful and even debilitating menstrual cycles but it’s important that this ad is displaying an empowering message to women that we can carry on and we are all in this together.

This trailblazing advert will surely increase awareness and recognition of the physical and hormonal symptoms women can experience during their period.

Bodyform teamed with numerous English Universities to create Red.Fit which is aimed at educating women about how to stay fit and active during their period and how your body can be affected at different times during your cycle.

According to a statement released by Red.Fit, more than 40 per cent of women surveyed said ‘their menstrual cycle had a negative impact on their training and exercise performance’.  Sadly there is a huge gap in research about why this happens to our bodies.

As such, the campaign is dedicated to sharing new research which provides women more information. Bodyform, various other businesses and Universities are all “investing in research to examine the menstrual cycle”.

Bodyform pledges on its website that “Together we’ll ensure that periods never hold us back”.

So here at Team Carousel, we thank you for your stance on empowering and educating women AND men on a very natural female bodily habit. We all bleed red and it’s refreshing to see a relatable advert that doesn’t show a test-tube of blue liquid being poured onto a sanitary towel. This is a ‘Bloody’ great advert, so watch it for yourself.
