Bringing your pooch to your place of employment on Take Your Dog to Work Day – this Friday, 20th June? These office dog etiquette tips by PetSafe can help make sure your pooch is top dog. Not the one who ends up in the doghouse.

1. Get the paws from the boss

Before you leash up and roll in with your canine colleague, sniff out the office rules. Not all workplaces are paw-sitively pet-friendly, so fetch approval from HR or your manager first.

2. Handle the doody before duty

Avoid any number-two drama during your 9am check-in. A pre-office potty break is a must – and don’t fur-get to schedule regular walkies throughout the day. A comfy travel buddy like a good puppy harness can help make the commute a walk in the park.

3. Set some paw-sonal boundaries

Even the goodest boys need to know their limits. Whether it’s a gate, a pen, or just your desk leash-tethered, keep your pup from turning the office into their own private dog park

4. Pack a canine onboarding kit

If you need your laptop to function, your pup needs their toolkit too. Here’s what to toss in your doggy briefcase.

  • A lead and comfy harness.
  • Water bowl or a fancy fountain like the PetSafe Outlast Pumpless one for stylish slurping.
  • Treats in a canine friendly carryall bag.
  • A toy or chew.
  • Poo bags. Because no one wants an accidental floor-presentation. Got outdoor access? The Pet Loo Portable Pet Toilet is a tail-wagging win.

5. Don’t raise the woof

An office isn’t the place to let loose your inner howler. If your pup is a barkaholic, ease them in gradually and reward quiet time. A little positive reinforcement goes a long way.

6. Be a paw-lite pup parent

Some co-workers might not be barking mad for dogs. Whether it’s allergies, fears, or personal preference – it’s your job to keep your four-legged friend close, clean, and calm.

7. Know when to sit this one out

Finally, If your fur baby isn’t quite ready for the big leagues – anxious, reactive, or still working on their toilet training – it’s totally okay to skip this round. You’ll both have a better time when they’re ready to wag their way through the workday with confidence.
