In a cut-throat ‘Dancing For Our Icons’ themed show, Bindi, 17, channelled the former Princess of Monaco Grace Kelly to keep her hopes of winning the title alive.
“Beautiful, brave, strong; she’s a woman who followed her heart and stayed true to herself despite everything the world could throw at her,” says Bindi.
“With love, politics, acting and work to help others, she was a force to be reckoned with and she will forever be my idol.”
Wearing a classic off-the-shoulder style, floor-length black dress, Bindi and her partner Derek Hough danced the foxtrot to Mika’s song Grace Kelly.
They scored 28 out of 30 points for their performance but it wasn’t quite enough to avoid the dramatic dance-off.
Only former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter was safely through to the next round with three perfect 10s.
Bindi and Derek were pitted against actor Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson to dance the jive.
All three judges opted for Carlos, even though 64 per cent of viewers voted for the brave Aussie.
Yet both couples secured their safety based on total points and will be back for next week’s episode.
Bindi confessed that boyfriend Chandler Powell also played his part in her survival in the highly-rated series.
She revealed her feet have been so badly battered that Chandler has helped her re-attach four toenails with superglue.
“My feet are really gross,” she says. “I felt so bad that they showed them!
“But they are actually super-glued right now because I lost another [toenail] in dress rehearsal!
“I just have holes in my feet and my nails keep popping off, but if I superglue them they don’t hurt as much.”
