Speaking on the set of her new comedy Bad Mums, due out in Australia on August 11, Mila, 32, credits her parenting success to a good sense of humour – and a healthy fear of weird-coloured snot.

“I think that the second you’re like, ‘Oh wait’ and that you can put humor at it, and it’s something that you can make light of.

“I think before my parents were raising my brother and I, everything had to go perfectly…Nowadays, if shit’s going wrong and I call my best friend and I’m like, ‘I don’t know, this colour is coming out of her nose and I’m pretty sure she’s dying.’

“And it’s okay to do that now, but I don’t know if it necessarily was okay before. I think this movie brings light to that.”

Mila say she’s also learned not to be so hard on herself.

“It’s the competitive energy that is so destructive. It’s just like you said — we’re all in it together.

“You only are a mummy in this way for such a brief amount of time anyway that you don’t wanna look back and be like, ‘Why did I care about that stupid nonsense?'”

Ashton has also been open about how fatherhood has changed him.

“Ashton genuinely lights up when talking about Wyatt and the little one on the way,” a source told People. “Everything about being a father is natural to him.”

Confessed Ashton, 38, to Ellen DeGeneres: “You think you know how much you love another person, and then you have a child and you realise you didn’t know.

“I think I really look at this as the greatest opportunity of my life. But the most amazing thing about having a baby is my partner, Mila.

“She’s the greatest mum – I can’t even! Like, I go to work every day and I come home and she’s perfect.”
