fathers day - Gifts to Delight Dad

For some of us in Australia, COVID-19 lockdown is strict with many under curfew and limited to a 5k radius from our homes. This really has put a dampener on our Father’s Day shopping. It really cast a black cloud over the future of many Aussie businesses.

The bright side of the limitations to our gift shopping means that many Aussie companies both big and small have been creative in ways to help us spoil Dad whilst supporting our favourite businesses in our (Dad’s) local area.

You might not be able to shout him dinner at his favourite restaurant, but you can shout him a ready-made meal delivered to his door. Providoor, a restaurant delivery platform founded by Maha chef Shane Delia during lockdown, is helping keep hungry Melburnians well-fed with chef-prepared meals from A-list eateries including Flower Drum, Movida, Estelle, Supernormal and Tipo 00. Pick something you know your dad will love and all he’ll have to do is reheat, plate up and enjoy. They deliver up to 35 km delivery radius.

How about some delicious goodies that last a little past a meal?

Tremila – A whole new way to experience gourmet pizza

Prior to COVID-19 restrictions, Tremila supplied its range of gourmet pizzas to commercial kitchens, restaurants, pubs and cafes around Melbourne. Obviously, that service came to a halt in the middle of March with so many restaurants closing so the owners expanded its offering and now deliver these restaurant-quality pizzas straight to your door!

Tremila Gourmet Pizza to Dad’s door

These aren’t your average supermarket frozen pizzas! All pizzas use imported ‘00’ flour from Naples along with a complicated 48-hour fermentation process, ensuring a fluffy artisan-style crust, just like you would get in Italy. Tremila pizzas can be kept fresh in the fridge for up to twelve days and in the freezer for up to three months and only take 5-7 minutes to heat up in the oven.

If Dad loves to cook then how about a gift of Recipe Journals of his favourite cuisine?

Recipe Journal from Bar Saracen, Melbourne CBD

Recipes from Favourite restaurants around Melbourne and Sydney

For Dads who love to cook or have a family member who loves to cook and spoil the family,

https://cartilagelocal.com/

Every journal costs $15, and $10 from every sale goes directly back to the venue. The journals have raised $8,000+ so far. Being a digital download means the purchase price is kept low, plus it gets the recipes into your hands as quickly as possible.

Fancy ordering Dad his favourite drinks?

$59 per month will see the whisky loving dad experience 3 of the worlds best whiskies delivered to his door with tasting notes via WhiskyLoot

Or if Craft Beer is more Dad’s drink how about a subscription to Craft Cartel. Not only will Dad receive an array of wonderful craft beers with tasting notes, when you purchase you will receive an email with a schmick designed description of the gift as a PDF, so you can print it out and stuff it in a card… or email it as the case may be.

If you want to be a traditionalist with a twist how about Socks and Jocks that will save the planet?

Check out the wonder packs from Manrags who not only have an array of fabulous goodies but are dedicated to saving the planet by reducing waste in landfill and increasing the lifecycle of all textiles .  We particularly loved the Fathers Day golf set. You can even build Dad a custom box of goodies too if you want to customised the perfect gift.

Finally, if you can’t make a decision remember the old standby, Giftcard.

The trick with Giftcards is to buy ones that can be redeemed at multiple stores with for a broad range of products. Bunnings is a good option as they are open during the lockdown, you can order online, click and collect and purchase a giftcard.

Woolworths Wish eGift cards – which can be redeemed at Woolies, Dan Murphy’s, BWS, Cellarmasters, Big W and more.

eBay also have giftcards that can be purchased in store at Woolworths or Coles that offers a world of goodies from local Aussie businesses.

No matter what gifts you find for Dad, remember to savour the moment. If there is one gift that the lockdown has taught us all is to be grateful for the ones we love.
