On December 1st, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first official visit together since announcing their engagement, attending a World AIDS Day event at The Terrence Higgins Trust in Nottingham.
The soon-to-be Duchess chose to carry a Strathberry Tri-Color Midi Tote. The ‘Meghan’ effect, within 11 minutes of photos surfacing featuring Markle’s look, the handbag sold out across all international stockists.
Humbled and appreciative of the international exposure, Strathberry then auctioned one of the tote bags to the highest bidder and the money was donated to the Terrence Higgins Trust.
Strathberry’s CEO reported that web traffic increased by over 5,000% and almost 4,000 shoppers signed up for stock updates on the same Tri-colour Midi Tote. The same bag is now reselling on EBay for $2,350, marked up from $675. Within 4 days the brand was also mentioned in over 1,500 articles online and in press. To keep up with demand, Strathberry relaunched production and began taking pre-orders for a batch which is due to be shipped at the end of January 2018. This first pre-order batch of approximately 380 bags sold out online in under 24 hours.

Strathberry will launch in David Jones in April, 2018 in their Elizabeth St (Sydney), Bourke St (Melbourne), Queen St (Brisbane), Adelaide Central Plaza (Adelaide) and Hay St (Perth) stores and online.
