Get The Look: Dark Romance

Play up your brows and lips with this sultry look - try the dark romance trend today.

Forget skinny over-tweezed brows; let your brow hairs grow out and groom them with just a touch of powder or wax. Having a more structured brow-shape has made a major comeback recently, and can help to frame your face and finish your look.

Don’t be shy to experiment with a bold lippie too. A dark purple-red tone is unmistakably sexy, and is perfect for a wild Saturday night  out.

“It’s been named the colour of the year — and for good reason,” says Rae Morris, Priceline Pharmacy’s Makeup Director. “The fashion pack’s love affair with rich wine tones continues for Spring and Summer. From musicians to bloggers, this moody, modern face is it-girl, all over. Nail it with a rich marsala lip, subtly defined eyes and sheer base.”

Step 1 – Starting with a velvety foundation, pump a small dollop into your fingers, and press into your face, focusing on areas that need a little more coverage.  Try Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Normal/Dry Skin, $27.96

Step 2 – Next, measure a strip lash against your own eye, and cut to size. Apply some glue directly on the strip, lightly shake to dry (you want the glue to get tacky before you put them onto your eyelid), and gently place on top of your natural lashes. Try Ardell Strip Lashes 120 in Black, $10.99

Step 3 – Now it’s time to focus on your brows. Use the brush provided to lightly colour in any gaps you may have between the hairs, and brush some wax through if needed. Try Rimmel London Eyebrow Powder Kit, $12.95

Step 4 – Prep lips with a light layer of lip balm, and immediately follow with some dark lipstick to vamp up your look. Don’t forget to reapply when needed – dark colours like this need special attention through the night. Try Australis Colour Inject Lipstick in Grunge, $13.95

Step 5 – Don’t forget about your nails! If you don’t have the patience to wait for nail polish to dry, these quick and easy stick-on nails could be your calling. They’re a cinch to use too – just press down on your nails for half a minute, and voila! You’re ready to go. Try Elegant Touch Express Press-On Nails in Polished Black, $14.99
