The 29-year-old English actor has spent the last year repeatedly denying that his character Jon Snow would be resurrected after being left for dead in the dramatic season five finale.
Of course, we all know now that he was telling us porkies, so let the grovelling begin!
Kit even went as far making a video apology which you can view below.
“I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone. I’m glad that people were upset that he died,” Kit says in the newly-released video, which preceded a mass reaction from fans of the fantasy drama.
“I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care. Or it would just be, ‘Fine, Jon Snow’s dead’.”
The actor says he is glad that fans had a similar reaction to his character’s death as they did following the bloody Red Wedding episode.
“Which means something I’m doing – or the show is doing – is right,” he adds.
Unsurprisingly, fans of the show – who have been waiting a year to learn of his fate – took to Twitter in droves as it was revealed that he is still alive.
User @SavChristie joked: ‘Me going door to door tonight: Excuse me, ma’am, but have you heard about our risen Lord Commander and savior, Jon Snow?’
And @AvaraHebert found the positive in an otherwise difficult day, adding: ‘Today is my 14 hour school day but all is fine because Jon Snow is alive ❄️ #JonSnowLives.’
Twitter user @omidreza_ht remarked on Kit’s incredibly great secret-keeping over the past year, despite being asked constantly in interviews and by fans over Snow’s story line.
The big question now for fans: Will his resurrection make his do-gooder character more interesting?
