Guests at Mary Kate’s union to Olivier Sarkozy, 46, in New York were asked to surrender their mobile phones at the door.
The décor at the private residence consisted of “bowls and bowls filled with cigarettes, and everyone smoked the whole night,” adds a report, although the pair is yet to officially confirm the wedding.
The actress-turned-fashion designer and Olivier were engaged in February after two years of dating.
Despite the age gap, Mary-Kate was “definitely interested in him,” from the moment they started going out, reports Us magazine.
“MK is constantly complaining about boys not being mature enough for her,” the story explained of Mary-Kate dating former French president Nicolas Sarkozy’s younger brother.
“She got the kids out of her system. Now being a businesswoman dominates her time, and she is rarely impressed with guys. She’s definitely interested in him.”
An insider told Us magazine that Olivier was equally smitten.
“He calls her ‘smart as a whip’ and says she’s mature for her age.” the insider said.
Father-of-two Olivier was married to writer Charlotte Bernard for 14 years before they separated in 2010. Their divorce was finalised in 2011.
Pint-sized star Mary-Kate is well-known for her role in Full House alongside her twin sister Ashley. The pair now run their own fashion labels, The Row and The Row and Elizabeth and James.
