Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by British writer Jojo Moyes, Emilia plays an unlikely character, Lou, who finds herself falling for her paraplegic charge Will, played by Sam (Hunger Games).
Unfortunately, we won’t actually be able to see the romantic sparks fly in Australia until April 21 – but trust us when we say, use that time wisely to stock up on the tissues.
It’s already being billed as the 2016 answer to the 2014 weepie The Fault In Our Stars – and has the added bonus of starring Australia’s very own Stephen Peacocke.
Stephen, who is best known for playing Brax on Home And Away, gets his big screen break as Will’s nurse who becomes best friends with Lou.
April is shaping as a huge month for Emilia who also returns to Game Of Thrones as Daenerys Targaryen around the same time.
The 29-year-old says she originally read Me Before You while filming Terminator Genisys, where she played Sarah Connor.
“It’s funny with these strong female roles,” says Emilia, who idenitifies more with Lou than any of the others.
“I’m really quite clumsy, say the wrong thing all the time and am awkward at the best of times. My friends and family have seen this other person every single day.”
Meanwhile, Sam also has his hands full this year – as a first-time dad. He and wife Laura Haddock (Guardians of the Galaxy) became parents for the first time in December 2015.
