Well to celebrate International Women’s Day that is just what David Jones did. And the best part? They filmed it.
David Jones has today released ‘Women in Conversation’ as part of a new content program ‘At the David Jones Table’.
The aim of the series is to use this content to start a conversation that taps into the psyche of diverse Australian women, exploring the issues that matter to them most and simultaneously discovering that which inspire them.

The topics of discussion include: relationships, motherhood, gender equality, mental health and self- belief.
“The ‘Women in Conversation’ series was conceptualised in considering what International Women’s Day means to us, and what we can do to celebrate and inspire Australian women.” Said David Jones General Manager, Marketing Communications, Victoria Doidge.
“We wanted to facilitate a forum for interesting and dynamic women to share their views, and for this content to be shared to act as a catalyst for greater conversation on important topics relating to women.”

BEST QUOTES FROM INSPIRATIONAL WOMEN AROUND THE TABLE
Here are our favourite quotes that left us wanting more…
- “Why can’t I show my tits and have an opinion? Why can’t I be sexy and have an opinion?” – Jesinta Campbell on confidence & style
- “One of the things we were raised with is the notion of the Superwoman . . . and we were meant to be perfect. And it’s only now . . . that it’s actually imperfection that draws other people to you.” Gretel Killeen
- “I think that women in leadership positions really should be judged on their performances, but I also think partly judged on the amount of women they bring up into senior ranks with them. Whenever I’ve been able to do that, I’ve made a point of doing that . . .” – Lucy Turnbull
- “You get to a certain age, and the world starts to feel like they own your ovaries.” – Carla McGrath on the pressure to have children and the decision to freeze her eggs
- “I have two girls, 10 and 7. I’m very lucky. But it’s a challenge . . . I’m not a perfect mother, I’d like to be perfect, but I was yelling and screaming at 7:45am.” – Kellie Hush on being a working mother
- “As women we do have a tendency to have an internal dialogue that tends towards the negative . . . The men always look for the positive in themselves, generally. We women have a tendency to check and just make sure we are still good enough.” – Lisa Wilkinson
- “The technological revolution with social media has been unbelievably positive in many ways, but one of the things that really worries me about it is that it has unleashed a very low level of civility in the way we communicate and talk to people. I’d like to think that 10 years ago these people would never have said these things out loud, and now through social media they think they have a viable platform to be really uncivilised . . .” – Lucy Turnbull on social media
- “We need to provide tools to both males & females to cope with building self-esteem. To understand how self-esteem is so core to your future, and your self-confidence, and your building of great relationships, to learn empathy to learn emotion and to understand that it’s all okay.” – Vanessa Fennell on self esteem
- “The best thing is to put everything on the table, and never be afraid. I’m very forthright and have very strong opinions . . . and I just think honesty is the best policy . . .” – Christine Manfield on coming out as a Lesbian
