David Jones 2016 Autumn/Winter fashion show’s new looks were designed for the colder climes, in contrast to the red hot models strutting down the aisle.
Supermodel Catherine McNeil led the glamorous models, alongside the retail giant’s ambassadors Jessica Gomes, Jesinta Campbell and Montana Cox.
The season’s new colour trends saw a profusion of colour from burgundy, pale pink, caramel and shades of resplendent reds and olive greens.
The audience were bedazzled by open back dresses, cut-out looks, mini skirts in a show that confirmed sexy is back.
New designers joining the retail stable include New York label Tome and its unique brand of wearable femininity crafted by Australian expats Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin, Perth couturier Aurelio Costarella, New Zealand favourite Zambesi, and the cult international diffusion line See By Chloé.
For winter David Jones also welcomed in accessories brands including Rebecca Minkoff bags, Stella McCartney sunglasses and A-list blogger Chiara Ferragni’s footwear plus the men’s surf lifestyle brands Saturdays NYC and Kelly Slater’s Outerknown.
Following the 2015 fusion of fashion with music by Aussie band Silverchair, this year also marked an inspired collaboration with the Sydney Dance Company.
It was refreshing to see the fabulous integration of the models and dance troupe.
“The partnership between David Jones and the Sydney Dance Company is a meeting of two brands who share qualities of innovation and spirit,” says Donna Player, David Jones Group Executive Merchandise.
“Performance and fashion are both timeless expressions of individuality so it was only natural we celebrate our new season pieces through dance for our A\W 2016 campaign.”

Joining them on a carousel dancing to the Disclosure track When A Fire Starts to Burn are David Jones ambassadors Montana Cox and Jessica Gomes, and completing the ensemble is the stunning international supermodel, Catherine McNeil.
