At least that was the story he teased from the pin-up pop duo in the latest episode of his popular Late Late Night Show segment, Carpool Karaoke.
Pointing out that Demi dated Nick’s brother Joe Jonas, while Nick dated Selena Gomez, James asks: “But you two never?… Really? Not even like a 3am pause when you look in each other’s eyes and go ‘We’re not going to do this are we?’”
“No!’ says Demi, who is currently touring with Nick, adding: “I don’t know if you notice but I kind of go for older men, no offense.”
James and Demi also grill Nick about his purity ring and love live, before the trio go busking on the streets of Los Angeles.
“I had a real relationship, with an adult,” says Nick, 23, who dated former Miss USA Olivia Culpo for two years before falling for Kate Hudson.
“Aren’t those the best?” says Demi, who has been dating actor Wilmer Valderrama (That ’70s Show) for five years.
“And I fell in love, actually,” Nick explains. “I fell in love and I decided it was time for me to take the purity ring off.”
James also asks the pop stars about their craziest fan experiences, and Nick reveals a fan once sneaked into his hotel room by hiding in a trunk while The Jonas Brothers were touring Germany.
“Someone jumped in the back and was hiding with the luggage, so when we got to the hotel after the gig they were in there and popped out,” he admits.
“We ran, as you do. And our security picked them up and escorted them out. I was just concerned they were going to say that we kidnapped them.”
As they belt out Nick’s hit Chains, James then asks the former Disney star if he’s ever been ‘tied up.’
‘Whoa, I don’t want to hear this,’ says Demi, putting her hands over her ears.
“I have, actually. I didn’t enjoy it at all. Also, I performed at a gay club one time and they literally chained me to the wall as I’m performing the song. It was very erotic.”
The trio later took to the streets to perform Demi’s hit Confident, with James joining the duo on the drums and then passing around a hat to collect tips.
