If Your Monday Morning Coffee Didn’t Give You a Buzz, We Hope This Feel Good News Will

More often than not, Mondays just don’t cooperate. So, if you’re caffeine hasn’t hit quite the way you’d like this morning, here’s a story guaranteed to shift your sluggish start and warm your heart more than any latte ever could — because it’s all about kindness, connection, and a simple idea that’s helping more Australians feel included in life’s most meaningful moments.

For generations, sending a greeting card has been one of the simplest ways to say, “I care.” A little note tucked inside an envelope can celebrate a milestone, offer comfort, or simply remind someone they’re loved. But for more than half a million Australians living with blindness or low vision, this everyday tradition has often been out of reach. Until now.

Now, for the first time in Australia, a new range of accessible greeting cards is changing that. The collection has been designed with input from people with low vision or blindness and features tactile surfaces, Braille messages, high-contrast colours, and clear, easy-to-read text. Small design choices, but ones that can turn a simple card into something deeply meaningful.

For Sydney local Karlee Symonds, 23, the change is personal. “Opening a card might seem small to most,” she says. “But, for someone with blindness, it shows just how often the world isn’t designed for us. I’ve celebrated milestones where I couldn’t read the card in my hands, with everyone waiting for my reaction. It makes me feel invisible.”

Moments like these remind us why accessibility matters. A card may seem like a tiny detail, but it carries connection, recognition, and belonging. For people who have often been excluded from these small joys, being able to fully participate can mean the world.

It’s proof that creating a more inclusive world doesn’t always require grand gestures. Sometimes it’s about rethinking the everyday things we already love so that more people can share in them.

So, if your Monday is feeling a little grey, here’s your reminder: small changes can make a big difference. A card may be just paper, but in the right hands, it becomes a message of joy, connection, and the simple truth that everyone belongs.

The accessible greeting card range is available now at Coles, Kmart, Target and selected newsagents nationwide, as well as online at hallmark.com.au
