Telstra offers more advice to small business owners

Cargo Crew’s Creative Director, Felicity Rodgers, says technology has enabled their Melbourne-based uniform business to increase their reach further than she’d ever imagined.

“Thanks to technology we are now able to not only reach potential clients Australia-wide but we also have a global client base,” says the rep for the 2015 Telstra Australian Small Business Award winner.

“Last year we delivered to over 50 countries worldwide with customers including Gwyneth Paltrow and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

“Any business launching today has the opportunity to play in the global marketplace, using technology such as cloud and having an online presence. It has helped us provide our customers a seamless online experience and the convenience of being able to purchase from us 24/7.”

Cargo Crew has expanded its reach
Gwyneth Paltrow is now a Cargo Crew client.

In response to the explosion of small businesses like Cargo Crew who are embracing technology to boost growth and productivity, Telstra is introducing 1000 trained small business specialists to its national store network.

They are trained in business-grade technology solutions such as basic cloud software and applications, mobile devices including leasing options, nbn™ network and mobile broadband services and bundled solutions for business customers.

Telstra Business Group Managing Director Paul Tyler says research reveals busy small business owners want expert advice from someone they can trust.

“By putting more specialists where our business customers need them – in our 350 Telstra stores in local communities across Australia – we’re making it easy for our customers to get expert advice,” says Paul.

“They’ll be able to walk in to their local Telstra store and speak with one of our small business specialists about how technology can help them be more efficient, share and input their business data in near real time or help them and their employees work on the go.

“That’s in addition to the support we provide in our business contact centres, online and the 82 Telstra Business Centres and 200 business and enterprise partners we have around the country.”

The announcement comes as Telstra celebrates 25 years of the Telstra Business Awards – the longest running program honouring the achievements of Australia’s best small and medium businesses (SMBs) and charities.

Paul says Telstra is unashamedly proud of its record of supporting Australian businesses, and more recently, charities.

“Telstra Business Awards Alumni are great examples of innovators and early adopters who have used technology to help them gain an advantage in the market. They’ve become ‘that business’ – one we all admire, a leader in their field, a name that is trusted and inspires others.

“They show how technology is fundamentally changing the way businesses operate today and delivering enormous benefits.”

In a survey of Telstra Business Award Alumni, more than half (54 per cent) said cloud technology was the one development that had made the greatest difference to their businesses in the last five years.

“Developments such as cloud technology are enabling businesses to take their office more places, open up new markets, reach new customers and be more productive. The use of cloud technology has been a real game-changer in regional Australia,” adds Paul.

Entries are now open for the 2017 Telstra Business Awards and close on March 16. Click here to nominate a business today.
