Adele’s smash new hit Hello has unwittingly become a viral break-up sensation for a scorned American Mary Caldarella, 19.

Inspired by Adele’s heart-wrenching ode to losing someone you love, Mary decided to see how her ex-boyfriend would react if she texted him the words like a normal conversation.

Unaware of the ruse, poor gullible Matt took the bait…hook, line and sinker – see below.

Matt must be one of the few in the world who hasn’t heard Adele’s latest chart-buster.

The video for Hello is smashing all kinds of records on YouTube and Vevo, and inspiring parodies from Ellen DeGeneres to Lionel Ritchie, who had a 1984 hit by the same title.

Hello took just five days to pass the 100 million views on YouTube, the fastest climber this year. Only Psy’s Gentleman in 2013 has got there quicker.

Meanwhile, on Vevo, Adele and her flip phone raced past Taylor Swift’s old 24-hour mark for Bad Blood, with 27 million frenzied clicks and hasn’t looked back.

The iTunes charts are also in Adele over-drive with Hello outselling all the competition in 102 countries, from Australia to Zimbabwe.

Fans are clearly loving the return of the 10-time Grammy winner who reputedly took a near four-year hiatus to concentrate on her relationship with entrepreneur Simon Konecki.

Their son Angelo was born in October the same year and until now his famous 27-year-old mum has been content to put motherhood ahead of her career.

Adele said life as a mum is “It’s f—— hard. I thought it would be easy. ‘Everyone f—— does it, how hard can it be?’ Ohhhhh… I had no idea. It is hard but it’s phenomenal. It’s the greatest thing I ever did.”

But Adele also admits it wasn’t easy dusting off the cobwebs to finish her third album, 25, which is due for release on November 20.

“I started knocking out some shit songs – they weren’t shit, they were good pop songs, but I was just trying to bang it out, I didn’t think about it. Some got rejected,” she said.

She even admitted that the American producer Rick Rubin said he didn’t believe her when she sang them.

“That’s my worst fear: people not believing me. So I went back to the drawing board.”

Adele said Hello is about “wanting to be at home and wanting to reach out to everyone I’ve ever hurt – including myself – and apologise for it.”
