As Australia’s brightest screen and film stars sparkled at last night’s AACTA Awards, we take a look at at the red carpet for all the glitz, the glamour and the downright perplexing.

Isla Fisher

The fiery bombshell not only took out the Trailblazer Award of the night, but Fisher also blazed a sartorial trail, rocking an embellished polkadot black Alex Perry gown and statement jewelled earrings.

Swathes of pale pink tulle with hand-embroidered wildflowers made for the night’s dreamiest and most romantic look. Tapping into the on-trend billowing sleeve, it was sheer delight with a fashionable high-kick.

Jessica Marais

A risky ensemble which proved polarising amongst the masses, Marais opted for lobe-to-toe Louis Vuitton. Whilst the abstract dress of panelled blue, green, white and black may have worked elsewhere, the AACTA Awards were certainly not the place. Ill-fitting and paired with those chunky, laced military boots, the look was perhaps best kept to the editorial pages, and not petite Jess.

Kerri-Anne Kennerley

Television’s first lady showed off that figure (she’s 63 thank you very much!) in a peacock blue, figure hugging gown with splices of panelled lace by Bronx and Banco – proving you can still wham-bam your way down a red carpet at any age.

Dami Im

Dami not only sent tingles down the sides of the thespian flock with her homage to Shine, but she too rocked the red carpet. Donning a crushed velvet Carla Zampatti suit in ink, the blazer was a standout, with perfectly puffed-up 80s-esque shoulders and the tinniest little slice of tummy and decolletage. A brave, fashionable choice, and every time she took a step, a marbled green, pointed Louboutin peeped out.

Georgia Love

Sans her Bachelorette beau Lee Elliot, Georgia continued the fairytale by way of dress, in swoons of black tulle with lattice bodice by Jason Grech.

Natalie Bassingthwaite

The diminutive Bassingthwaite opted for a simple Steven Khalil gown in a neutral palette of white, black, and sheer navy. The athletic dress was a fashionable side-step for Khalil, a master couturier who favours excess and femininity.
