My Psychic reading with the ghost whisperer

I was skeptical at first about the authenticity as one can be when it comes to psychic readings.

However, whether you are a believer in these things or not, I feel you have to approach these situations with an open mind.

This is what I did; I left my skepticism at the door and went there with no expectations or preconceived ideas.

I had previously met a psychic many years before and I found it a very interesting experience, so I was looking forward to seeing how my reading with Suzie would go.

I was told by her representative that she had had no previous information sent over about whom from The Carousel team would be attending.

I guess this was reassurance that Suzie hadn’t Googled me to get some background info to better create a more convincing reading.

I entered the room where there was a table set up with trinkets, incense, a crystal ball and some tarot cards.

These are the sort of things you would expect to see if you entered into a fortune- teller’s tent at a circus.

Suzie then explained that she possessed the skills of being a medium, someone who could communicate with people on the other side who had passed.

She then asked if I had any sentimental jewellery or rings I could let her hold, so I handed over my necklace; one I always wear that my mum gave me.

Suzie then held it in her palm and asked to hold my hand, which in itself was maybe more nerve-racking than the actual experience, because it’s a nightmare holding someone’s hand when you seem to constantly have excessively sweaty palms like I do.

But anyway, I put aside my embarrassment; surely she must have to hold clammy palms all the time. She then took a moment to connect and reach out to the other side.

With her eyes closed and an inquisitive expression on her face, Suzie started to throw out random names and letters at me, places and objects and character traits that I might possibly resonate with.

There were some that made sense and some that I could not seem to link to my personal life. After a while of to-ing and fro-ing we seemed to be getting closer to the truth.

Towards the end she did make a connection with some of my deceased relatives who sent messages, which she relayed, back to me. This part of the reading actually meant a lot. Whether people believe psychic readings to be real, or all a ploy for money, at the end of the day, everyone should take from the experience what they want.

I personally think it’s a reassuring thought to think there is life after death and that those who you’ve loved and lost can find peace and happiness whilst still watching over you.

In fact, there was one moment when Suzie turned to me and asked if I had ever seen a shadow out the corner of my eye or a flickering of the light?

She explained that if I did, it was one of my grandmas checking in, letting me know she was there.

Yes, the skeptics may argue these are regular occurrences that can happen due to a dodgy electricity circuit, or just your mind playing tricks on you.

However, I found it a much more positive way of looking at things; I quite like the idea of my grandma letting me know she’s there.

I even told Suzie to tell her to say hi with a flicker of a light more often.

Suzie Price is appearing at the Dockside Function Centre in Sydney on Sunday, August 14. For more information and tickets visit www.ghostwhisperersuzie.com
