2. Central Coast escapades 

Bateau Bay Beach picnic area on the Central Coast is the ideal spot for a picnic or just a pit stop. This picnic spot is sheltered from the elements, and close to the beach for an after lunch dip or exploring the rock pools.

3. Explore Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park 

As one of the gateways to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park’s many walking trails, waterways and lookouts, Apple Tree picnic area is a perfect place to settle in with friends this summer.

4. Family adventures on the North Coast 

Pack a picnic and gather the kids together for a fabulous day by the beach at Angourie Bay picnic area on the North Coast. Located adjacent to Angourie Headland, this lovely park-like setting is ideal for a get-together.

5. Georges River National Park and Mirambeena Regional Park 

Bankstown boats 350 parks and sporting reserves where you can enjoy a picnic and explore a range of fun-filled activities including boating or water-skiing on the Georges River, or a stroll along the river foreshore.

6. Discover Narrawallee Beach on the South Coast 

Located next to the Narrawallee Creek Nature Reserve, Narrawallee Beach on the South Coast offers two beaches to enjoy with picnic areas as well as a variety of lookouts which show the coastline in all its glory.

This Summer UCruise Sydney is offering private boat charters for groups of up to 12 in open boats designed to be able to cruise right up to Sydney’s most delightful secluded beaches.

8. Hawkesbury River camping with the family 

Cattai Campground in Cattai National Park on the Hawkesbury River is the perfect place for a family picnic and a weekend getaway. With plenty of space for kids to run around or ride their bikes.

9. South Sydney/Illawarra adventures

Enjoy a picnic in the world’s second oldest national park, the Royal National Park. This is the place to kick back and settle into the Bonnie Vale picnic area that makes for a great day of water-based fun for all the family. There’s easy swimming in the tranquil waters of Cabbage Tree Basin, and on weekends you can hire a canoe and paddle the waterways of Port Hacking, near Bundeena. There is also great fishing at nearby Jibbon Beach and barbeques so you can cook up the catch of the day and enjoy your meal in the great outdoors.

10. Palmy day trip

Take a day trip to the Northern Beaches and indulge in a basket of tasty delights at Palm Beach, the city’s northernmost suburb.  You might like to head to Governor Philip Park Beach Road at North Palm Beach, a relatively quiet beach with good swimming and body surfing conditions, as well as an ideal barbeque spot for a hot summer’s day with friends and family.
