The Jewellery Trends That Will Be Popular In 2025

Talitha Cummins, founder of The Cut Jewellery, shares her take on the jewellery trends we’ll be seeing everywhere in 2025.

It is a fact of life that trends come and go, however, when it comes to jewellery, especially if you are purchasing an investment piece, it’s good to note that the trends usually go through cycles and will come back in fashion every few years. For example, dainty jewellery has been trendy for years, but 2024/2025 has seen chunky, bold pieces re-emerge. While chunky jewellery will probably remain popular for several years to come, it will likely go through the usual cycle of being less popular for a while before it is back in favour.

The top jewellery trends of 2025 that I predict will be everywhere are as follows.

Bold statement pieces

Whether it’s a bold earring, ring or necklace, this trend will continue into 2025.  I personally love the 80’s style bold earrings because they elevate an outfit from a singlet to a suit with minimal effort. They are also eye catching, often flattering in that they can reflect the wearers features (such as eye colour and tone), and they can be an interesting talking point.

Necklace layering

It’s official: necklace layering is back, and the strong layering trend will continue in even classier ways than ever before. Rather than just layering with a gold or silver necklace, with diamond tennis necklaces becoming more accessible thanks to lab-grown diamonds, tennis necklaces are becoming the perfect foundation for necklace layering, elevating this trend like never before. Double chain necklaces will feature prominently, too.

Engagement ring trends

There is always a bit of pressure when it comes to purchasing an engagement ring, as ideally, it is a ring that will hopefully be worn for life. Therefore, trends often come into play as usually the purchaser will only be looking for a short period of time, and marketing during that time frame will be influenced by the trends.

The oval diamond trend has been dominating for many years, and it is still going strong. However, bespoke rings are growing in popularity, with more couples opting to design a ring together rather than have the proposing partner hace all the pressure to make the right decision. Therefore, there has been a rise in brides opting for unique diamond cuts and we expect that to intensify in 2025. Asscher Cuts, Old miner/ antique cuts and trilogy rings are becoming popular as clients opt for a more unique style.

Larger carat diamonds

There’s been a strong trend towards larger carat size diamonds thank to the accessibility of Lab Grown diamonds. 8,9 and even 10 carat rings are gaining popularity in emerald cuts, radiant cuts and ovals. This trend has been driven by our US clients but were expecting that to catch on in Australia in 2025.

That is what I predict will be popular in 2025. All of these jewellery trends are also timeless and will come back into style over and over again, making them good investments and great for a piece to hand down to a family member.
