Anti-ageing skincare secrets are shared thick and fast, when you visit Elisa Markovic from The Beauty Scene in Freshwater, Sydney. Elsa has wonderful healing hands and there’s not much she doesn’t know about anti-ageing skincare, either. The truth is as you get older, you need more muscle when it comes to caring for ageing skin.

Elisa, who is a highly experienced beauty therapist, took one look at my wind blasted face and said; ‘Your skin is so dry! What products are you using?” After a discussion about the importance of using products with more active ingredients as you age, it became clear that a quick cleanse and basic moisturiser just doesn’t cut it for me nowadays. I needed some serious anti-ageing skincare! Elsa explained she would perform the Hydropeptide Deluxe Detox Facial on my skin, which aims to clear away congestion and debris, decrease inflammation and replenish and rejuvenate the skin.

“You need much more than a basic moisturiser to help your skin cells regenerate and stay hydrated as you get older,” Elisa explained as she treated me with a range of power packed products from a HydroPeptide Honey Tri-Zyme Mask, followed by the HydroPeptide Advanced Ultra-Rich Moisturiser during my hour long facial.

Anti-Ageing Skincare Means Highly Active Ingredients

The active ingredients in both these products read like a long list of glossy beauty goodies. For starters, the honey peel is formulated with enzymes, raw honey and natural alpha hydroxy acids to resurface and hydrate your skin, and smooth polyphenols that nourish, protect and brighten. After being left on for 10 minutes my face felt fantastic, especially as it was boosted by an Omnilux light treatment, which uses specialised LED light wavelengths to heal and repair fragile, mature skin.

Next up was a serum and then the Power Lift Advanced Ultra-Rich Moisturiser which contains 5 peptides, Pinapple Ceramides which increases skin cell turnover and enhances hydration and improves barrier function. If that’s not enough, it also contains Chilean Boldo Tree, Bearberry, Vitamin C, Licorice antioxidants and Shea, Hyaluronic Acid, Rice Bran and Ceramides which help hydrate the skin.

As Elisa gently blended the cream with long strokes from the back of my neck and around my face, you could feel the goodness literally soaking into my pores. My whole was left feeling incredibly hydrated and plump.

Simply The Best

Of course, there are therapists and well, excellent beauty therapists and Elisa falls into the latter category. She is hugely knowledgable about anti-ageing skincare and the products that really make a difference. I came away feeling much more aware of how to look after for my skin and when I took a look in the mirror I could see the difference of having dry skin to hydrated skin with a nourishing glow.

To be honest, I often wonder why I go for a body massage when you can have the benefit of a massage and the bonus of giving your skin a special treat when you go for a facial. It’s like you get two for the price of one! There’s something so incredibly wonderful about the whole pampering experience – the soft music, the hot towels, the touch of warm, healing hands placed gently on your face. It’s not only great for anti-ageing skincare, it is a wonderful form of mindfulness and self care.

All up, my anti-ageing skincare facial was heavenly and I’d happily recommend this signature treatment from The Beauty Scene. I left feeling on top of the moon, but but the best part was to come. On arriving home, my husband said: “Wow, your skin really looks amazing!’

More about The HydroPeptide Deluxe Detox Facial ($140)

Pollutants, debris, free-radicals and blue light can damage the health of your skin, increase inflammation and accelerate the signs of aging. The HydroPeptide Deluxe Detox Facial incorporates a Honey Tri-Zyme Peel and a Nordic Detox Mask to ensure your skin functions optimally by clearing away build up, deeply purifying, repairing, replenishing and protecting your skin while strengthening its environmental defences.

Omnilux™ Revive (Red) ($120)

Boosts the activity of skin cells and promotes a refreshed, glowing complexion. Omnilux will minimise the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage by stimulating the skin’s natural collagen production. A non-invasive alternative to injectibles.
