Rina Cooper reports on indoor plants perfect for small spaces.

Planting and tending to a garden in your home is always a great idea, and it affords several benefits, especially relating to health. Ordinarily, a garden will require a large space, which will greatly influence how many plants you can have in your garden. However, some plants are perfectly suited to small spaces. This makes them perfect for a garden when you don’t have enough room in your home. So, if you live in a rental home or somewhere that doesn’t have enough garden space, you can still have a garden. Some of the best indoor plants for a small-space garden include:

Succulents aren’t only small, but they solve the water requirement problem by requiring little. Best of all, you won’t have to worry too much about maintenance and can simply check up on them once in a while. Succulents are excellent for your small-space garden. They can even be used indoors as they don’t shed leaves and mess. When selecting succulents, you can choose them based on their aesthetic value as they are excellent for decorating and beautifying the home.

Air Plants

Air plants are unique in that they can grow in the absence of soil. It sounds weird, but once you have a medium for the air plants to grow in, they will thrive. Additionally, you won’t need pots for them and can simply use a bowl from the kitchen. The only thing you will need is to water it a few times a week and allow it to get plenty of light. Air plants are mostly used for aesthetics and can be placed on a shelf in your home.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a common feature in a lot of gardens, thanks to its low water requirements. Aloe Vera is best suited to dry soils, only requiring water once in a while. The only thing you need to do is make sure you place the aloe vera somewhere it can get plenty of light. With dry soil and steady light, Aloe vera will thrive. It fits into small pots, so it doesn’t require much space and will be an excellent addition to a small space garden.

Juniper Bonsai

The Juniper Bonsai is mostly used for decoration and can add aesthetic value to either your garden or your home. The most impressive thing about the Juniper Bonsai is that it doesn’t require much in terms of care. Instead, you simply need to ensure it has access to sunlight, and you water it periodically. The Bonsai is small, so it is a perfect addition to a small space garden.

Citrus Tree

Citrus trees are a perfect addition to your small space indoor garden as it adds to the home’s decor and produces edible fruits. The best thing about the Citrus tree is that it is as easy to care for as it is small. A citrus tree can fit into a large pot or a bucket and won’t require too much attention from you. Soon enough, you will begin to see some fruits hanging down.

Fiddle-Leaf Fig

The fiddle-leaf fig is a little bigger than most of the other plants on this list, but it can still fit into your home. Best of all, the fiddle-leaf fig is easy to care for, with the plant only needing water when the topsoil is dry. Simply place the plant close to the source of light, and it will thrive without too much fuss. It doesn’t make a mess, so it is a perfect addition to a small-space indoor garden.

Clean Indoor Air

Peace Lilly

Peace lilies come in several shapes and sizes, making them ideal for small-space gardens. Peace lilies are both beautiful and excellent tools for air purification. Peace Lillies don’t require too much light and thrive best when placed in a partial shade.

Seeing as these plants are going to be growing indoors where they may not have adequate access to sunlight, you can solve the light problem with grow lights. Grow lights are perfect for indoor plants as you get to control the light intensity and duration for which the plant is exposed to light.

Conclusion

You don’t need to have a large house to have a garden or indoor plants. Once you can choose properly, there are many small plants that are perfectly suited to a small space or an indoor garden.
