During summer, we’re at our most active. We move a lot, we eat lighter foods and we’re usually full of energy. The weather is warm, the sun is shining, so it’s natural for or bodies to be extra energetic.

But even after such an active period, it’s easy to lapse into sedate habits as soon as the summer is over. Even though it’s not that cold just yet, we’re starting to change our pace and snuggle into the comfortable fall lifestyle, with richer meals and less movement – simply put, we’re undoing all the good we achieved during summer.

However, it doesn’t have to be that way. It’s time to shake ourselves awake and move that stagnant energy through our body and learn to be active even during the fall and winter.

Awaken the strength of your body through movement

strength, body

To awaken your energy, you must awaken your body. The best way to do that is through physical exercise. This will increase your blood flow and slowly give you the strength to tap into the rejuvenating power of the new season.

If it’s been a while since you’ve exercised, you could start slow – 20-minute workouts at home six times a week can be more than enough to improve your circulation and restore your energy bit by bit. Depending on when you’re reading this article, you may or may not be able to join a gym or take a yoga class. If the quarantine and social-distancing rules are still in effect, don’t worry – at-home workouts are a great way to get fit.

You can do standard exercise sets if you’re looking for something more traditional, or try an online yoga class. Choose any kind of physical activity that you enjoy because this will help you approach workouts with a positive attitude. Forcing yourself to do intense workouts that you hate doing won’t help you cleanse your energy. It will only bring more negativity into your life.

Do a detox

detox, healthy

While detox isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to fall and winter (these seasons are usually reserved for unhealthy sugary and greasy foods after all) that doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Your body will need to flush out all of the toxins so it can recover full functionality, and a home detox is a good way to do that.

If you’re wondering how to detox your system safely and effectively, we can help you out. There are several ways you can go about it. One is to try freshly-squeezed juices, but if you want something more effective, you might want to try a real detox program. This is particularly important for those who are exposed to heavy toxins on a daily basis and need something that will get rid of unwanted chemicals from of their body. Rely on quality vitamins and herbal supplements, and avoid drinking alcohol, smoking, or eating junk food during a detox (and in general) and you’ll get pretty great results.

Breath work and meditation

meditation

Meditation is a slow, patient thing. It may seem like it invites stagnation at first, but in truth, it has the ability to wake us up completely. If you want your energy to flow freely, then consider meditating every day for at least 10 minutes. If you’re not sure how to start, you can always follow a guided meditation program from Headspace or try a mindfulness app on your phone.

If you’re still not sold on the whole meditation idea, you can try something simpler: breath work. Basically, it’s a short, calming exercise that can help you get rid of negative energy within minutes.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Inhale slowly, counting out three seconds. Make sure to inhale from the belly, not just the chest.
  • Hold your breath for three seconds.
  • Exhale slowly, counting out five seconds.
  • Repeat.

You can do this once a day every morning, or you can do it whenever you feel tense or overwhelmed.

Let go of your resentments

There is nothing more limiting than anger and resentment. It makes your spirit stagnate and it hinders your growth. It basically robs you of your peace and stales the energy inside your body. To help it move again take some time to consider the relationships in your life – have some of them become toxic? Do you carry a lot of anger and jealousy inside you?

Now is a good time to let those go. The best way to go about it is through psychotherapy, or simply by talking things through with a trusted confidante.

Tap into your creativity

There is nothing more effective than kickstarting stagnant energy than creative energy. This can manifest in any number of ways: through painting, knitting, designing a video game, cooking, writing, making furniture, making jewelry. Tap into your own creative power and use it to pull you through periods of staleness.

Try some of these tips and you can expect to slowly awaken your body. Remember, do a little bit each day and soon you’ll replenish your energy and get back to your old self.
