Best Quick Techniques To Stop Feeling Anxious Right Now

I know you’ve heard it all before, you’ve tried different exercises but you always go back to the same place – anxious.

Stress and anxiety seem to go hand in hand with life these days. It’s the norm now to live in a stressed out or anxious environment, it’s as though it’s a given. We wake up knowing we’ve got a long list to get through and for some of us, we’ve got some leftover things to tick off from the day before too.

You know that saying that we all strive for… ‘work/life balance’?

Well we sure are striving for a life, so much so that having a life seems to have become another job. Forget about enjoying our ‘work/life balance’ we tend to make it more about what we picture in our mind of how our  ‘work/life balance’ should be instead of how we feel or experience it. It’s such an easy habit to get into and before you know it, BOOM a vicious cycle of fulfilling work and then social commitments have you pulling out your hair – you can see where I’m going with this. 

Now that you’re beginning to see the bigger picture in how we create our reality of always doing without giving ourselves the time or space to experience it. And for so many, finding a moment is the hardest thing in the world. So, here’s what I’m going to share with you, stepping into a calm or relaxed state doesn’t come naturally to many. 

It’s a skill that is learnt and dare I say it, needs to be practiced Every. Single Day!

It’s so much easier for us to be in a frenzy or chaotic energy. It feels like we’re doing so much and doing means taking achieving, right? Well, no it doesn’t. You’re living off adrenalin and cortisone and that crushes our nervous system and forget about enjoying anything! To break this habit just requires some commitment from your end and with only a few minutes a day to start off with, you’ll get more and more comfortable and familiar developing the skill of ‘calmness’. 

Best Quick Techniques To Stop Feeling Anxious Right Now

Let’s look at a couple of examples that you can sneak in your day (yes that’s every day) and practice. If you’re consistent, you’ll see changes within the first seven days.

  1. Resetting the Mind – do for 1-3 minutes
  • Sit comfortably and stretch your arms up in the air as far as you can and take a deep breath, then release
  • Place your hands-on knees and close, then softly and gently roll your eyes up towards the centre of your forehead (don’t go crossed eyed)
  • Take slow soft deep deliberate breaths 
  1. Resetting the Inner Voice – do for 1-3 minutes
  • Sit comfortably and place both hands over your navel
  • Close your eyes and hum softly to yourself
  • Begin to push your hum deeper into the body through an exhaled breath
  • It’s an inner hum we’re after
  • Listen and let the sound vibrate throughout your body
  1. Resetting the Body – do for 1-3 minutes
    • Stand up and stamp your feet on the ground
    • Push all that excess energy into the earth
    • Stand tall hip width apart and hands on hips
    • Breathe deeply and slowly into the body to reset your nervous system

You don’t have to do all of the above exercises but doing one Every. Single. Day. will reset your nervous system from the habit of being anxious into a calmer, a more relaxed state. Every time you repeat these exercises it becomes easier, you’re flushing your body with fresh oxygen instead of depleting with short anxious breaths. The key to accessing a ‘calmness’ is being able to breathe deeply into the navel and we all know this, we just need to practice it!

So to change that unfriendly habit of being anxious, takes as little as one minute per day and remember that’s Every. Single. Day. And that one minute will become one of your friendliest daily habits for life!
