The Emmy Awards Red Carpet was a colourful affair this year, with many choosing colour in favour of style stalwart black.
A red carpet ode to the current preoccupation with maximalism; fabrications with glittery, gleaming and even glomesh-y.
Here are our picks for the Emmy Awards’ best dressed list for 2016, including the full winners list:
Emily Ratajkowski
The ultimate belle of the ball, Miss R. took out our Best Dressed gong here at The Carousel HQ. That Zac Posen gown. That body. That make-up. Sigh.
Kit Harrington
One for the lads, the ever-suave John Snow looked sharp and brooding in his Givenchy tux; complete with sateen black bow tie and neatly-tucked long locks.
Olivia Culpo
The beautiful brunette was a celestial delight in sheer Zac Posen; the strapless frock was exaggerated at the waist and dotted with diamonds that sparkled under the flashing lights.
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra was the real-life personification of the “lady in red” emoji; a knockout in a one-shoulder Jason Wu gown which swirled and twirled on the red carpet much to the glee of eager paps.
Sarah Hyland
One which divided the masses, we loved Sarah Hyland’s stylish take on Emmy’s attire. An intricate brocade bustier by Monique Lhuillier fell to the floor with drama, whilst black cigarette pants offset the theatrics and added some fashionable flair.
Felicity Huffman
The toned mama was an ethereal (and sexy) vision in fitted white lace gown by Tony Ward with swathes of nude tulle that fanned out around her waist.
Emilia Clarke
The Games of Thrones actress combined old Hollywood with a touch of disco; wearing a strapless Atelier Versace gown in nude glomesh, which was tightly cinched at the waist, making for a modern hourglass shape.
Kristen Bell
Taking heed of the current obsession with florid embroidery and autumnal appliqué; this Zuhair Murad gown was spectacular in both its artful construction and theatrical execution.
Sarah Paulson
Embracing the maximalist trend with red carpet polish, the award winning actress paired her bedazzled, heavily embellished, green Prada gown perfectly with slick Pixie crop and jewelled earrings.
