See Inside Kate Langbroek’s Heritage-Listed Home

The TV and radio personality describes the stunning Melbourne cottage as a family haven for husband Peter Allen Lewis and their four children.

But she’s the first to admit that it wasn’t exactly love at first sight!

“The first time we saw this house we didn’t like it,” says Kate as she opens the home’s bright orange doors for the popular web series hosted by Jules Sebastian.

“It was one of those places that becomes invisible. The guy who owned it was quite eccentric and had burned through about six real estate agents.”

Yet Kate and Peter were quickly able to infuse their own special touches and soon fell in love with its charm.

“It’s amazing that a house that’s made of wood can survive for 150 years.”

“You don’t get the sense that it’s precious. it’s been vigorously lived in this house and it continues to be vigorously lived in and I like the sense of life that that brings. It’s not a display home by any stretch of the imagination.

“When we first moved in I thought ‘this house is so huge, we will never fill it’. Now we are bursting out of it.”

Of living in St Kilda, Kate says, “It’s a very vibrant neighbourhood and there’s always colourful characters around.”
“We really sort of live in the neighbourhood. The kids walk to school, our supermarket is a short walk away, our friends own a bar down the road and we’ll go there for lunch.”
The ongoing series has already visited the homes of rocker sisters The Veronicas, star couple Braith and Jodi Anasta, plus fashionista and footy couple Nadia and Jimmy Bartel.
