The Block winners wedding

Ecstatic young Brisbane couple Karlie Cicero and Will Bethune are still pinching themselves in disbelief at their life-changing windfall on The Block.

Karlie and Will, 25, netted a whopping $815,000 in profits and prize money on the top-rating finale on Nine last night.

The Block's big winners

The couple sold their gorgeous Melbourne apartment for $2.6million, well above the reserve of $1.885million.

They pocketed the $715,000 difference, and picked up an additional $100,000 for selling the apartment for the biggest price above the reserve.

“We are over the moon and just cannot believe what happened,” Karlie told The Daily Telegraph soon after.

“When we applied to be on the show we didn’t think we’d get on.

“As a young couple struggling financially, winning The Block is going to set us up for the rest or our lives.”

The Block win was overwhelming

Will, an electrician, later told news.com.au: “We’re a young couple and we’d put our lives on hold.

“We’d just bought our first home and struggling to pay our mortgage while being on was very difficult.”

Quantity surveyor Karlie added: “For our [lost] wages and the amount of savings that we’d dipped into on, we thought anything over $100,000 would be great. Anything over $200,000 we’d be ecstatic with.”

The massive windfall also means that their April wedding plans are back on track.

The high school sweethearts earlier told Woman’s Day that they’d eating into their wedding savings just to get by.
