Just days after sharing the happy news about her love for Lee Elliott, The Bachelorette’s Georgia Love has confirmed the tragic death of her beloved mum Belinda Love.

Georgia, 28, took to Instagram to reveal that her “heart is utterly broken” after Belinda, 60, lost her six-month battle with pancreatic cancer on Saturday.

“Seven weeks ago we were sipping cocktails in Italy. Seven months ago you weren’t even sick. How is it possible you’re no longer here?” Belinda writes alongside a collage of pics commemorating happier times together.

Georgia had introduced Lee to Belinda only a few days earlier.

“It was amazing to see how much he perked her up,” she told TV Week, adding: “She was sitting up talking and laughing with him, which she hadn’t been able to do all day.

“It was obviously an awful place and reason to be meeting.”

Lee also revealed in an interview with the Daily Telegraph, he met Georgia’s mother for the first time in hospital straight after the finale aired and received the seal of approval from her.

The mother-of-two is reported to have been shocked at the mechanical plumber’s victory, to which he responded: “That doesn’t sound good!’

But it’s understood Belinda put him at ease insisting she was her pick to win, saying: “No, you were my favourite and that’s why I didn’t think Georgia would choose you.”

Lee later said on his Instagram account that he felt “truly blessed to have finally been able to meet the absolutely extraordinary woman.”

He added: “I can certainly now see where your strength, love for life, sense of humour and beauty both inside and out come from.”

Georgia, who often spoke fondly of her mother on the show, described the nurse as: “my first friend and my best friend, my rock, the one who knew me better than anyone in the world”.

She told her 97,000 social media followers the 60-year-old has supported and backed “every single thing” she did.

“There is so much more I need and want to share with you,” she writes.

“I have no idea how to even begin to say goodbye.”
