With over 10,000 Australia shoppers having voted, the emphasis on the healthier products has been crystal clear with 13 out of the 35 winning categories being part of the health segment; ranging from healthy snacks and food, to oral care and supplements.

Some of the research on the trend has indicated that “82% of Australians have changed their eating habits in the past five years, with 86% trying to be more health-conscious regarding their diet” and “over one in two Australians claim to be eating healthier than they were five years ago.”

We’re thrilled to see that healthier alternatives are increasingly available in stores as consumers are yearning for this (…)” said Product of the Year Director, Sarah Connelly

Nielsen conducted market research, and their findings echoed similar conclusions. They found that consumers are continuously looking for healthy alternatives when they look for new products.

Brands have also been outright dominant regarding the taking home of awards, racking up 30 of the possible 35.

It’s pleasing to see that consumers are backing these independent brands, with our research finding that ‘more than half of the consumers surveyed would purchase new products, even if they were unaware of the brand name.’” Connelly continued
