Geri Horner – aka Ginger Spice – has become a new mum after giving birth to a baby boy.
The Spice Girl’s adorable new arrival came on the same day as her former bandmate Emma Bunton, ironically nicknamed Baby Spice, celebrated her birthday, reports The Sun.
Gerri (nee Halliwell), who is married to Formula One boss Christian Horner, took to Instagram over the weekend to share the first photo of her newborn son, and to officially announce his name.
“Montague George Hector Horner arrived this morning, a beautiful little brother for Bluebell and Olivia #amazing-day #grateful #monty,” she captioned a black and white image showing her new arrival’s tiny feet.
The Mirror reports that the name is Geri’s tribute to her close friend George Michael, who was found dead on Christmas Day.
“Geri wanted George to be a part of Monty’s life, so she felt it only fitting that her newborn have a middle name after the star,” a source tells the paper.
Taking to Twitter, Geri also wrote: “Christian and I are delighted to announce our baby boy was born this morning weighing 7lbs 8oz.”
The mother-of-two was immediately swamped with well-wishers including Emma Bunton, who tweeted: “Amazing news, so happy! #birthdaytwins #birthdaymade love you all.”
She had previously spoken about Geri’s pregnancy, telling BANG Showbiz: “I’m over the moon, she is going to be an amazing mum, for the second time. I’ll be babysitting, but we are all working mums so she doesn’t need any advice from me. It’s very exciting.”
Geri and her husband shared the exciting news of her pregnancy back in October with a joint statement that read: “Spice Girl Geri Horner, 44, and husband Christian Horner OBE, 42, are absolutely delighted to announce they are expecting their first child together.
“The couple is overjoyed with the good news and cannot wait to welcome the newest addition to their family.”
Geri also revealed the exciting news on Instagram, writing “God bless Mother Nature #mamaspice,” alongside a sketch of a heavily pregnant woman.
Montague is Geri’s first child with Christian, 43, who she married in 2015.
She already has 10-year-old daughter Bluebell, whose father is screenwriter Sacha Gervasi. Bluebell’s godfather is Kenny Goss, George Michael’s ex-partner.
