Here at The Carousel, we’re wondering will she be happily married to Mark Darcy, (played by Colin Firth) finally? What’s this hot new billionaire Jack Qwant (played by Patrick Dempsey) doing in Bridget’s life (bad news for the love rat, Daniel Cleaver fans)? Will there be plenty of relatable yet loveable Bridget-like mishaps?

We sure hope so. To mark the release of the new trailer for Bridget Jones’s Baby and our excitement for the new film we thought we would reminisce over our top six Bridget Jones moments.

The time she meets Mark Darcy at her mum’s Christmas turkey curry buffet and starts rambling nonsense. We’ve all done it before when shoved into the presence of a beautiful man. Your brain becomes a fuzzy mess, you start sweating and a stream of absolute rubbish comes out of your mouth. Bridget we know your pain.

Eating the entire contents of one’s fridge.
Whether you’ve been single and lived on your own or with others, most will experience a depleted fridge at some point. Most likely because you’ve been too pre-occupied with whatever drama in your life to actually remember to feed yourself and buy food. Therefore, you go to look in your fridge and realise all you’ve got to eat is some mouldy cheese, half an onion or an open box of cereal. You convince yourself that it is perfectly acceptable to eat whatever you have left, rather than drag yourself to the shop because you are feeling too darn sorry for yourself and that’s ok.

When she truly and honestly answers the question of why she wants to work in television. We’ve all been to interview after interview, all unsuccessful, and got to the point when we think, why am I even bothering?
‘So why do you wanna work on television? [Bridget] ‘I’ve got to leave my job because I shagged my boss.’ One of those moments when you’ve given up and don’t care about an over-share.

Singing ‘All By Myself’ by herself.
Sat in her pyjamas, having a night in on her own, no-ones called, so she drowns her sorrows and does an Oscar worthy karaoke performance. Not many of us might want to admit it, but I’m sure plenty of us have drank a little too much at some point and thought we were the next Whitney Houston or featuring in our own music video. However, we can’t deny, Bridget does it best. Her rendition of ‘All By Myself’ is definitely one to beat.

The time she tries to explain that she needs a pregnancy test with her limited language skills.
We all pretend we know the language basics of most European countries we visit but when it comes down to it most are pretty hopeless and even ordering a plate of chips results in pointing to it on the menu. Therefore, when Bridget has to ask for a pregnancy test in the second film ‘Bridget Jones – The Edge of Reason’ it’s definitely one of our favourite bits. If you haven’t been stuck in a foreign country and tried to ask for something more complicated or embarrassing than a bar of soap, then trust me when I say, Bridget’s miming attempt to request a pregnancy test is hilariously accurate. It doesn’t get more awkward than that.

Overall Bridget is pretty hopeless in love, after all she does fall for the saucy scoundrel, Daniel Cleaver, but then again we all love a bad boy. Which leads us to our final, funniest and favourite Bridget moment! The scene when Daniel discovers her rather large, unflattering pants!

Bridget Jones's baby - The Carousel

The phrase ‘Hello Mummy’ which was apparently improvised by the actor Hugh Grant, is still one of our favourite parts of the film. It’s just so perfectly awkward and embarrassing you just can’t help but squirm and laugh with her.
