Over our Australian Summer, the bushfires put a sudden stop to regional travel, something that inevitably affected thousands of properties, businesses and people across the country.

Then, just as Australia’s environment began to heal, local travel was once again hindered by the spread of COVID-19. But now, the government is gradually giving the go-ahead for local travel meaning it is the perfect time for Aussies to play their part in the regeneration of local businesses.

To encourage this many fabulous Aussie including Edwina Bartholomew, Natalie Bassingthwaite, Jamie Durie have joined the #RoadTripPledge – a promise to travel locally to help regional Australia get back on its feet.

Sunrise and Game Changers host Edwin Bartholomew said, “I have been lucky to visit so many beautiful parts of Australia through my work and now is the time to return to those places as a family. We took the pledge, knowing that in doing so, we are helping to get businesses get back off the ground and small towns humming again.”

The #RoadTripPledge is not only about local travel, it serves as a reminder of the incredible power of regeneration. It is:

  • Standing with regional Australian towns
  • Vowing to explore impacted places by road
  • Spending generously in towns of all sizes
  • Always asking locals “are you okay?”
  • Valuing moments of connection with the people you love
  • Finding a renewed sense of adventure together. Even when the headlines have stopped, and the social media has ceased.

We will not forget the reason why we made our #RoadTripPledge.

“We took the pledge, knowing that in doing so, we are helping to get businesses get back off the ground and small towns humming again,”
