September in New York means one thing – Mercedes-Benz Spring Fashion Week is in full swing and the soaring NYC temperatures are giving the fashion-loving public all the more reason to splash colour and skin around!
Aussie talents Zimmermann and Dion Lee represented our home soil as the models hit the catwalks this weekend to showcase what we’ll all be wearing come summer this year. While sister act Nicky and Simone Zimmermann focussed on their signature floral and textured trends along with their feminine swimwear, Dion Lee was inspired by the beautiful, yet stark landscapes of the late Australian painter Jeffrey Smart in his Sunday (Sydney time) show at MBFW. Saying of his inspiration, Lee commented, “I like the feeling of these very industrial roadside landscapes. It’s a dark, almost eerie, feeling but with a very primary modern colour palette.”
