We’re all about multitasking skincare here at The Carousel, so when we heard about Neutrogena’s gentle scrub with oil control we had to give it a try! Sharon Farrell of ‘Sharon The Makeup Artist’ gives Neutrogena’s Deep Clean Gentle Scrub a try and shares her thoughts…

Oil slicks and flaky patches are contradictory situations that my skin experiences on the daily, so it was with great enthusiasm that I tested out Neutrogena’s Deep Clean Gentle Scrub with oil controlling properties. Here’s how I got on…

Product: Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub

What it does: Gently cleanses and exfoliates the skin by sloughing off dead skin cells, unclogging pores and keeping oil at bay.

Scent: Fresh and clean with a hint of citrus.

Key ingredients: Salicylic Acid – a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) – dissolves dead skin cells and keeps pores clean. Rice Protein keeps skin looking matte.

Why we love it: Nothing beats starting the day with a good scrub, washing away all the grease and grime that’s built up overnight. There’s something so satisfying about exfoliating. Away with the dull dead skin cells of yesterday, today is all about bright shiny new skin!

I enjoy this ritual so much in fact, that I want to do it every morning – and so I am constantly searching for products that are gentle enough to use daily, yet ‘scrubby’ enough to get my exfoliating rocks off.

One such find is Neutrogena’s Deep Clean Shine Control Daily Scrub. First off it’s a creamy cleanser (not sudsy or soapy) with teeny tiny microbeads of gritty goodness that gently excavate every pore and scrub away every flaky patch.

Scrubby bits combined with Saliclyic Acid, a most potent Beta Hydroxy Acid and banisher of blocked pores, is a grime fighting team sure to keep your skin smooth and soft on the daily.

And if that wasn’t enough there’s another innovation in Neutrogena’s exfoliating emulsion; the addition of Rice Protein technology. This basically acts like tiny sponges that absorb excess oil throughout the day, keeping skin fresh and shine free.

To summarise it’s:

  • Creamy and gentle enough to use every day
  • Scrubby enough to smooth the roughest of skin
  • Controls oil throughout the day
  • Inexpensive and available just about everywhere

Get in my shower!

How to use it: Wet your face and massage about a dollar sized dollop into your skin, avoiding your delicate eye area. I prefer to use this in the shower as it’s easier to rinse all the scrubby bits away. Make sure you wear sunscreen with BHA’s cleansers like this to protect your skin!

Price: 14.99

Stockists: Priceline, Coles, Woolworths, Target and most pharmacies nationwide.
