MYER WOW: Autumn Winter 2015 Collection Launch

Oh MYER you’ve done it again! But then again, how can a parade put a high heel wrong with the Face of Myer Jennifer Hawkins and Myer Ambassadors Kris Smith and Kate Peck strutting their stuff on the catwalk for the Autumn Winter 2015 Collections launch?

Over 40 models and  200 new season looks by leading Australian and International designers were showcased at Myer Mural Hall in Melbourne with a creative vision and set featuring moving black and white oversized blades in a slick architectural setting that rotated and changed to create a dramatic visual backdrop for the show.

Models appeared from both sides of the set, partly obscured by the blades before bursting on to the runway. Throughout the show, the set ‘Shifted’ from light to dark and black to white in line with choreography and dramatic music shifts. Moments of simplicity created a new kind of wonderful.

The styling of the show, by internationally renowned fashion director Thelma McQuillan, delivered a strong 70’stone, with luxurious renderings of distinctive bohemian silhouettes and the ever evolving modern take on the best of the pre-disco era: subdued prints, magnificent earth tones, flowing skirts and hip-hugging flared trousers.

Myer officially welcomed Dutch fashion brand Scotch & Soda to its fashion stable with an exciting 20 male and female model exit, the biggest in the show to sit alongside other international designer collections including Peter Pilotto, Christopher Kane, Preen and Tome.

Jennifer Hawkins, starred on the red carpet (as usual) and then took to the catwalk to open the show wearing stunning creations by Toni Maticevski. Throughout the parade Jennifer wowed on the catwalk wearing stand out designs from Arthur Galan, Christopher Kane and closed the show in a spectacular Alex Perry design (below).

Kris Smith looked as dapper as ever and extra sharp in an Arthur Galan AG suit on the red carpet. Kris appeared on the catwalk twice showcasing leading Myer menswear brands Autonomy and M.J.Bale.

Kate Peck looked stunning in White Suede on the red carpet and then showcased designer collections by Ellery, by johnny, White Suede, Cue and Alex Perry.

Complementing the fashion was the flawless beauty look created by Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics. Napoleon produced a natural dewy and pale even tone base with an emphasis on big eyes, created through naturally thick-brushed brows, lush defined lashes and contoured liner, finished off with soft cheeks and a nude natural lip. Kevin Murphy created a thick, healthy, shiny natural hair look complete with a classic middle part, an ode to the 70’s runway. The focus of the look was the illusion of an effortless finish, complementing the striking make-up look.

Myer CEO Bernie Brookes sat front row alongside leading Myer designers, including Toni Maticevski, Alex Perry, Arthur Galan, Yeojin Bae, Kym Ellery, Johnny Schembri, Jayson Brunsdon, Kate Sylvester, Wayne Cooper and Napoleon Perdis.

Myer hosted 350 VIP guests including a number of Melbourne’s most fashionable celebrities were in attendance including Myer Ambassadors Rachael Finch, Jodi Anasta with husband Braith Anasta and Lauren Phillips as well as celebrities including fashion personalities Rebecca Judd, Nadia Bartel and Lindy & Michael Klim. The fashionable crowd sipped Champagne by Billecart-Salmon and enjoyed refreshing Cocktails by Patrón Tequila, including a Poached Pear Martini – Patron Silver, Angostura bitters, lemon and sugared cinnamon. Guests were treated to a delicious menu provided by prominent Melbourne caterer Bruce and Chyka Keebaugh of The Big Group. The menu was filled with light and tasty morsels with zingy bursts of flavour.
