Bring your sequins, sparkle and authentic self! The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is about to get even more dazzling as Mecca Max returns as a Major Partner for 2025. For the second year running, the bold and bright beauty brand is stepping up to celebrate self-expression, individuality, and the power of colour. And, inviting everyone to embrace their unique beauty and march to the beat of their own drum.

As the annual pride festival kicks off, Mecca Max is bringing its signature vibrancy to the 17-day celebration, with exciting activations designed to inspire. In the lead-up to the iconic parade, Mecca stores across NSW will open their Beauty Labs, offering tutorials and applications to ensure everyone is ready to shine. The pinnacle of the celebration arrives on March 1, when Mecca Max takes to Oxford Street, inviting beauty lovers and allies alike to ‘March with Mecca Max’ in a spectacular display of colour and creativity.

Alexandra Bokeyar, General Manager of Mecca-Maginations, shares the excitement of returning as a Major Partner. “Mecca Max was created with a spirit of individuality, creativity, and empowerment, and we are proud to be aligning once again with Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. As passionate allies of the LGBTQIA+ community, we believe in the importance of creating an inclusive environment that fosters self-expression.”

For Mecca team member Dean, the brand’s decision to feature him in its Mardi Gras campaign is a powerful validation of his journey. “This campaign has been a powerful source of validation for me. The experience helped me reflect on how others value and love me for who I truly am. On set, it reminded me to never take my queerness for granted, as there is beauty in my uniqueness.”

Taking the partnership beyond parades, Mecca Max will also launch a limited-edition Shade Parade Marbled Eyeshadow Duo – a pigment-packed duo featuring two mesmerising shades: ‘Showstopper,’ a hot pink with gold flecks, and ‘Crowd-pleaser,’ a navy silver shimmer. Beyond creating beautiful looks, this eyeshadow makes a meaningful impact – Mecca will donate 10% of proceeds to Minus18, Australia’s largest charity supporting LGBTQIA+ youth. This ongoing commitment helps fund life-affirming events, LGBTQIA+ inclusion training for schools and workplaces, and digital resources that offer support and education.

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras CEO Gil Beckwith is thrilled to welcome Mecca Max back as a partner. Mardi Gras has always been a celebration of pride, self-expression, and community, and Mecca Max’s vibrant energy and dedication to celebrating individuality aligns perfectly with that mission. Together, we’ll continue to create moments where everyone can feel seen, celebrated, and empowered to shine in their own unique way.”

With colour, creativity, and community at its core, the Mecca Max x Mardi Gras partnership is a reminder that beauty isn’t just about how you look – it’s about celebrating who you are.
