Crystal healing for pets may seem a little ‘woo woo’, but as someone who has implemented crystals into their animals’ lives as much as possible, I can truly say I have seen positive benefits.

For example, I keep rose quartz crystals in my dogs’ water bowls. Rose quartz is known as the stone of unconditional love. It’s believed by many to emit strong vibrations of love, support emotional healing, inspire compassion and strengthen the bonds of relationships.

Whether or not it works, is yet to be scientifically proven. However as far as I can tell, the intention alone certainly has positive outcomes. People always comment on how calm, well-behaved and loving my animals are and indeed, the bond I share with them is like nothing I have ever known before.

There are many crystals you can use to support your pet’s behaviour and wellbeing. I wanted to explore this further, so I spoke with Stoned Crystals founder Ashley Bellino, about which crystals we can use to best benefit our furry family members.

How Crystal Healing For Pets Work

“At an atomic level, our universe is in a constant state of vibration,” explains Ashley. “Both humans and animals are a very complex mix of vibrations that can easily be disturbed and become unbalanced, which may make us sick and unwell.

“All kinds of things can affect our vibration, from external influences such as electromagnetic and geopathic stress, to internal ones such as constant negative thought patterns and suppressing emotions.

“Crystals have been used for their powerful healing properties for thousands of years, as they are extremely good at holding a stable vibration due to their crystalline lattice structure. They emit steady vibrations that help to create balance within oneself and zen into the spaces around us.”

Rose Quartz

“Rose Quartz is one of the most loved crystals,” says Ashley. “Animals in particular love it, as do young children. Rose Quartz symbolises universal love, inclusiveness and friendship, and it’s one of the stones we recommend people put in the centre of their home. By this, I mean the heart of the home or the centre of a space. For example, if it’s placed on a shelf, it would sit in the middle. It’s about bringing people together and represents that feeling of inclusiveness.”

Rose quartz is a wonderful stone for pets that have been rescued from abusive homes or situations, or been in the pound system for a considerable length of time. It is thought to radiate feelings of security and peace, while at the same time decrease muscle tension and speed physical healing.

Place some stones in their water bowl, or under the cushions in their beds. I even like to make trinkets to hang on their collars.

“Black Hex, or Obsidian, is a protection stone, known for its reflective qualities,” reveals Ashely. “It’s physically reflective and acts as a mirror into ones-self. Its natural mineral make-up is actually molten lava or volcanic glass.

“Obsidian is actually connected to the Root Chakra, therefore is said to govern our sense of security and foundation. It is a wonderful stone to put as a protective energy near the entrance of the home. For pets it can act as somewhat of a shield.”

If your pet is frightened of thunderstorms, it may be wise to place some obsidian crystals around the entryways of your home, or again, add a trinket to their collar.

Chevronica Amethyst

“Chevronica amethyst is the stone of calm, and it definitely has a calming effect on animals,” reveals Ashley. “My two cats always slink past and brush up against Chevronica and they seem to gravitate towards it more than other crystals in our home … and I have a lot of crystals!”

Animals with separation anxiety, nervousness, or hyperactivity will benefit from Chevronica Amethyst placed strategically around the home – in their beds, on a side table near their favourite chair, or even at the front door of your home.

Smokey Quartz

“This crystal connects to the base chakra, and represents our foundation and the feeling of being grounded. It’s your go-to for clarity, strength and enlightenment,” says Ashley.

“Smokey Quartz is known to help absorb negative energy and increase positive energy, helps with clarity and faithfulness.”

If your pet has hyperactive tendencies, or suffers anxiety, Smokey Quartz may help. Place it in their bed, or around areas of the home or garden where they like to rest and relax.
