Santa Claus Is Coming And Last Minute Thoughtful Gifts Can Still Be Had

Beautiful woman Last Minute thoughtful Gifts

I confess! I have been guilty of leaving everything to the very, very last minute.  I have had those Christmas eve shopping frenzies, rushing through shopping centres stressed with credit card in hand.

Desperately trying to find anything that will serve as a last minute gift.  Trust me that is no way to start a joyful Christmas!

As a matter of necessity, I developed my ‘Savvy Strategies to last minute gift giving’.  If you are at risk of last minute Christmas present panic, let me share my strategies so you can avoid that frantic Christmas Eve too.

Let’s face it, the pressure of procrastination is crippling this time of year.  Add to that, popular items selling out, road rage peaking (even in car parks) and shop assistants are frazzled.

So let’s discuss how to organise a fabulously thoughtful gift, even on Christmas eve after the shops have closed.

It is never too late to shop online

The convenience of online shopping generally means ordering anytime of the day.  The only risk with shopping online, particularly this time of the year, is the product delivery timeframe. So how do you get the best of both worlds?  The convenience of shopping online with instant delivery and no risk?

Savvy Strategies to last minute gift giving!

How about giving the gift of adventure, indulgence or inspiration?  Here is how

Tip 1:

When making your Christmas list, make sure you also have a column for the interests and hobbies of the gift recipient.

As an example my ‘interests’ list for my friends reads

  • Bruce: loves adventures
  • Jackie: organic gardener, busy Mum

Tip 2:

Rather than giving a present that is a product, consider giving the gift of an experience.

Most can be purchased online.  You may want to attend the experience with your gift recipient (on a spa date or a cooking class).  You may opt for a buying a voucher. It might be as simple as purchasing a more general voucher so your loved one can choose what they would like to buy.  This works particularly well for nerds who love the latest and greatest and you have no idea what they already have or need. I head to Kogan.com.au or itunes.com for my beloved nerds.  Both sites have a broad range of products that suit all tastes. Vouchers are fabulous however you can also facilitate the gift of adventure, indulgence and inspiration.

Here are some of my favourite Savvy gift experiences;

Adventure

I sourced this for my friend Bruce.  He is an action man so I purchased an indoor skydiving gift certificate from Adrenaline, which starts at $109.  They have exciting experiences available across Australia for the thrill seekers in your family.

Indulgence

My Friend Jackie is a busy Mum and often doesn’t find time in her crazy day to spoil herself.   I decided I would get her some beautiful and practical lingerie.  I went to my favourite online store Miss Scarlett Did It (www.missscarlettdidit.com.au).

missScarlett

Not only does this store have the most beautiful and comfortable lingerie they also have a globally renowned bra fitter.  This is not the cold tape measure in an awkward backroom in a department store experience but a very elegant spa style consultation or for the time poor a skype consult.  This is a wonderful gift for young girls getting their first fittings all the way through to the more mature ladies wanting to maintain their youthful shape regardless of size.  I only shop with Miss Scarlett now.  I didn’t know how correctly fitted bras could be so comfortable and as a side benefit, beautiful! I ticked Jackie off my Christmas list.

And let’s not forget booking a fabulous indulgent spa date for you and the present recipient to spend time together.

Inspiration

I recently subscribed to a site called Masterclass.com.  MasterClass connects us with some of the world’s best creators . The education platform offers affordable, engaging and inspirational online courses delivered by award winning, world class artists and celebrities.  This is a stunning gift for your creative family and friends.  The class options include;

  • Singing with Christina Aguilera
  • Acting with Kevin Spacey
  • Writing with James Patterson
  • The art of performance with Usher
  • Tennis with Serena Williams
  • Cooking with Gordon Ramsay
  • Photography with Annie Liebovitz
  • Screen writing with Aaron Sorkin

All classes are US $90 and have a lifetime access so they can be completed at your preferred pace.  You don’t even have to choose the class you can buy a ‘general gift’ and the recipient can choose amongst the amazing artists and experts.

I plan over the holidays to do the photography and acting courses as I love both artists and want to hear their view of their world.

Other great gifts to share are

  • cooking classes – a great start is going to https://www.redballoon.com.au/gourmet-gifts/cooking-classes for a selection of classes or if you are adventurous google ‘cooking classes melbourne’ as an example.       You will be overwhelmed with the fabulous offerings.
  • wine tasting – the same goes, Google wine courses in your area. Red Balloon also has an array of course with a Beginner’s Wine appreciation Course from $75 https://www.redballoon.com.au/gourmet-gifts/wine-tasting
  • Food classes including the wonderful Mushroom foraging on the Mornington Peninsula (http://mushroomtours.com)

Tip 3:

Wrapping

If you want to be fabulously organised make sure you have a great Christmas card or even a small gift box to pop your printed voucher in.

Voila!  A thoughtful gift, wrapped and ready to thrill. Now your shopping is done, sit back and enjoy your Holiday season with your loved ones.
