Game Changers: Stars Share Sage Advice For Their Younger Selves

Game Changers: The Aussie Tech CIO Smashing The Glass Ceiling

Our Game Changers in The Carousel’s popular video and podcast series showcasing inspiring Australians are all at the top of their game.

They’re leaders and disruptors at the cutting edge of everything from health care to the online retail and tech sectors.

But there are still things they admit they’d do differently, if only they could go back in time and dish out some pearls of wisdom to their younger selves.

Here’s what they’d say:

Peter Scutt, CEO Better Caring: “I’d say believe in yourself. Back yourself and take risks. It takes a long time in life to believe that you can actually make a difference, and I think If you can work that out at a younger age, it’s a great thing.”

Brandon Evertz, CEO Big Review TV: “I’d say don’t be afraid to explore new opportunities. It doesn’t matter what age you are, dream big. Be as positive as you possibly can, jump into life and don’t be afraid.”

Georgia Branch, co-founder Silverfox MGMT Group: “Look for advice from other people and don’t think that you know everything. Don’t assume, ask lots of questions and be curious.”

Brigitte Warne, co-founder Silverfox MGMT Group: “Don’t worry about what anyone else is thinking. Never give up and really believe in yourself.”

Carl Jackson, CEO Oz Sale: “I’d say don’t be afraid to have a go if you really believe in it. Follow your convictions and follow your intuition.”

Andrea Walsh, CIO iSentia: “Don’t be afraid to grab any opportunity. Be even more curious. Laugh a lot more. Learn as much as you can, try and meet as many people as you can that you think you can learn from. Take every opportunity that comes your way and just give it go.”

Sarah Harris is the presenter of Game She is also a mum of two, journalist and host of Network Ten’s show, Studio 10 and Shark Tank.
It takes a special mix of sass and smarts to wrangle co-hosts (and media heavyweights) Kerrie Anne Kennerley and Joe Hildebrand in front of a live studio audience every day. Sarah has both in spades; not least because she spent more than a decade on the road as a reporter, covering some of the biggest stories around the world.
Before moving to Network 10, she worked at Channel Nine as the network’s go to reporter: delivering extended live coverage from Victoria’s Black Saturday bushfires, the Christchurch earthquake and Queensland’s devastating floods in 2011.
