It’s tipped to sell for a cool $20 million, there will be no open inspection or boards out the front of this amazing inner-west Sydney home…but Title Deeds and Domain.com.au have gone inside the home of Australia’s favourite celebrity, Cate Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton.

Ahead of a move to the United States later this year, Blanchett is looking to sell up her Aussie abode called ‘Bulwarra’ – an historic homestead built in 1877 and redesigned by architects Dr Stephen Lesiuk and Nadine Alwill.

Behind the beautiful sandstone facade, the redesign has doubled the floor plan and includes a three-storey staircase that is as much a work of art as it is a centrepiece to the new and original pavilions.

Outside the home is a stunning water front view complete with tennis court (of course) and the home itself flows with interconnected living areas clearly designed for both family living and artistic flare.

Imported from Los Angles, the Arclinea kitchen doesn’t just look the part, but is uber eco-friendly too with an extensive bin and recycling system under the island bench top and a clean design encompassing a recessed stove, two fridges, two walk-in pantries, tonnes of bench space and everything that opens and shuts for family meals or entertaining.

There are five bedrooms all housed upstairs complete with the kind of Hollywood wardrobe you’d expect from one of the world’s best-dressed women! Children’s bedrooms open up on to a centralised play area while an automatic staircase actually ascends like a stairway to fashion heaven into a larger dressing room with wall-to-wall clothes racks…OH MY!

What was originally designed as a basement cellar has been completely transformed into an epic home movie theatre room – of course.

Finally there’s a pool, of extraordinary design and underneath – yes, underneath – said pool is a self-contained apartment with a stunning Japenese-style bathroom and a black shower room with golden light…SWOON!

Nadine Alwill said of the home,”The idea is for it to be set up like any house, but that packs away out of sight as well. It’s an unusual house for the high-end because it offers a level of sophistication that isn’t found in your usual big, trophy homes.”

According to Domian, the expressions of interest campaign through Ken Jacobs, of Christie’s International, kicks off in September.
